Girl Of My Dreams
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader Warning: nothing but fluff Summary: You work at a small diner down the street from the compound which Bucky visits often, so often that you remembered his order.
Tumblr media
It was another boring night shift at a small diner you work at, outside of town, you leaned against the counter waiting for anyone to show up. It was a slow night and you hoped for any type of human interaction even someone asking for directions, you tapped your fingers on the counter groaning as the cars outside continued to pass by “Hey, Y/N if no one comes, in the next 20 minutes we’re going to close up.” Normally the diner was open 24 hours but on nights like this one, you give some time and then close if no one comes in. You nodded your head and started wiping down tables, you knew no one was coming in so you might as well stay busy for the next 20 minutes. Just as you were wiping down the last table you looked at your watch and saw that there were only 5 minutes left and then you could close. Soon the bell rang above the door you internally groaned but when you turned around you came face to face with a very gorgeous and mysterious man, you smiled over at him and grabbed a menu asking him to follow you to the table. "Can I start you off with something to drink?" He looked at the menu for a bit then asked for coffee you nodded "I'll give you a few minutes to look over the menu and I'll be back with your coffee." You smiled sweetly at him and turned to walk away; you watched as he intently looked at the menu trying to decide what he wanted to eat, slowly and gently biting his bottom lip you couldn't help but stare at him, he was gorgeous. You were snapped out of your thoughts by the sound of his voice "I think I'm ready." You strolled over notepad and pen ready he told you his order along with a glass of water. You smiled once more and nodded "Of course, I'll be right back." You walked over to the window and told the cook to make pancakes with eggs and bacon on the side. You took him his coffee and some cream and sugar just in case he wanted it which he didn't use it. Soon his food was done, and you decided to make a cute smiley face with strawberries and blueberries on top of the pancakes and take it over to him. "Enjoy, if you need anything I'll be right over there." He couldn't keep his eyes off of you but still nodded so you knew he understood, you walked over to the bar and sat down, and your manager came over and handed you the keys to the diner "When the last customer leaves lock up for me." You nodded and patiently waited for the man to eat his food you kept looking over periodically not because you were impatient, but because you felt his eyes on you, and you couldn't shake it. You went over to check on him one last time and noticed he only ate half of his food "Do you need a to-go box for the rest of your food?" He nodded and took a sip from his coffee "I'm sorry for staring, you are just really gorgeous." You felt your cheeks heat up, and you couldn't help but smile "I'm sorry was that creepy?" You shook your head "No, it was very sweet." You smiled once more before turning around to get him a box and his receipt. Just then the bell above the door rang you looked behind you and saw a muscly blonde guy along with another muscly dark-haired man "I'm sorry but we're closed." The dark-haired one came up to you holding his hand out “Hi, I’m Sam, we’re just here to get our friend we’ve been looking for him for a while now.” You looked at Sam and it hit you “Wait a minute, are you?” You looked between Sam and the blonde one “Are you the Avengers?” They nodded “It is amazing what you guys do, so you must be Steve Rogers?” His smile was so perfect you could literally see it sparkle “Yes and this is Bucky, I'm sure he was too shy to tell you, his name." You made eye contact with Bucky; it was an odd name, but you liked it for some reason your gaze went back to Steve "Do you guys want some food to go, on the house?" Bucky raised an eyebrow "Didn't the cook leave already?" You nodded and shrugged "I know how to cook." They all shared a look "Actually, we have food at home, maybe next time." You handed Bucky his to-go box and receipt. "Have a good night, guys." They all waved, and you locked the door behind them.
Tumblr media
The next couple of nights, Bucky came in at the same time and ordered the same thing each night, to the point where you would have it ready for him when he came in the next night. Tonight, he came in with Sam and Steve and you didn't want to embarrass him, so you pretended not to know his order. "What can I get you guys?" Bucky furrowed his eyebrows but then kind of got upset, did you forget about him already? Did you not like him anymore? Which was far from the truth, you were head over heels for him, but you didn't know if he felt the same way, so you ignored all of your feelings and stuck to doing your job. After you collected their orders, you went over to the window to place them. Bucky watched your every move and once it looked like you weren't busy, he got up from the booth and walked over to you. "Y/N what was that about?" You looked up at him and raised an eyebrow "What are you talking about?" He tilted his head at you "Not knowing my order" Your shoulders slumped, and you stood up straight "I didn't know if me knowing your order would embarrass you in front of them and that's the last thing I want to do." Bucky smiled slightly trying not to seem so happy "I like it, don't worry about embarrassing me I do that enough on my own." He winked at you and returned to the table. You brought over their order and went back to where you were sitting waiting until they were done since they were your only customers, when they were done you took the check over and did something really bold in your opinion, you wrote your phone number down on it with a winky face. You sat with your back to them so they wouldn't see the embarrassment on your face if you got rejected. All of a sudden you hear the guys 'oohing' like teenagers, and you can't help but feel a bit embarrassed, but soon you feel a hand on your lower back, you look over and it's Bucky "I'm not really a phone guy, but for you I will try." He patted your back and went on his way. For the past couple of days Bucky has been texting you nonstop, asking how your day was going, if you were hungry, and making sure no one was messing with you. You stopped texting him for a couple hours because you got busy at the diner, just as you were about to text him back and apologize, he walks in the diner looking for you a huge smile spreads across his face when he sees you “I’m sorry to just pop in, I got a little worried when you didn’t text back.” You smiled and poured him a cup of coffee “It’s okay, it got a little crazy in here and I couldn’t text back, but my shift is almost over you wanna do something?” He nodded taking another sip from his coffee “What did you have in mind?” You shrugged and thought for a minute “How about you come back to the compound with me and we can watch movies and talk” You scrunched up your face “Movies and talking don’t really mix” He chuckled slightly and leaned his cheek on his hand “What I meant was, we talk and get to know each other while there’s a movie playing in the background that we are not paying attention to.” You smiled and nodded “Sounds like a plan.”
Tumblr media
You finish up your shift and of course, Bucky is there waiting for you. It made you feel safe, and you liked it. You got in your car and Bucky got in his, he was driving in front of you toward the compound since you didn't know where it was. Finally, you two got there, got some snacks, and sat on the couch, you turned toward him "So... tell me about yourself." You start to list things that happened in your life knowing it doesn't even come close to what he had to deal with, the two of you sat there talking and laughing for hours. "Oh, is this your new girlfriend, Bucky?" Her voice laced with sarcasm and hatred even though she doesn't know you. "What is this one, number 75? Don't get too comfortable you won't last long." By now your fists are balled and your teeth are clenched, how dare she say that shit to you "Enough, Sharon." Bucky gritted through his teeth; you picked up your bag and put it over your shoulder. "This was fun, but I think I should go." And just like that you turned and walked out the door and got into your car, you don't remember your drive home but all you know is you got home, and Bucky has been calling and texting non-stop asking if you're okay, instead of responding you just turn your phone off and go to sleep.

“what are you doing?” natasha asked you shyly, her figure leaning against the frame of the kitchen entrance. she watched your hands skilfully kneading the dough on the counter over and over again, folded into a neat rectangle before being flattened and folded again in the next moment. behind you, pans were sizzling with the mouth-watering fragrance of scrambled eggs being cooked on the stove, and the oven let out a ding right as she stepped closer, telling you that it was preheated and ready.
you let the dough rest, before putting a pre-prepared one in the oven and finally turning to her. “making breakfast,” you said, matter-of-factly, “for the team.”
“but it’s our off-day,” she replied, “and we have chefs in the compound.”
you smiled. “well, i just thought it would be nice to have something homemade, for once. my mother taught me how to cook, and i figured i’d spend the morning of the day-off in the kitchen, where i’ll be busy, and…the thoughts wouldn’t be so loud.”
natasha folded her arms over herself as you came closer. you noticed she had just come back from the gym. she probably hadn’t had anything to eat.
carefully slicing the freshly baked bread into halves, you took a pair out of the perfect symmetry and placed them on the plate, before ladling a helping of the scrambled eggs, taking a few pieces of bacon out of the other pan, and placing a piece of hash brown right on top, before covering it with the other half of the bread. she watched you work, methodically, seamlessly. you looked like you had been doing it for years.
then, you wrapped the sandwich quickly, and wrote her initials, N.R. with a smiley on top of the wrapper, before handing it to her. she was taken aback, and slightly red when she looked at the sandwich being offered to her.
“i-it’s…” she stuttered, heart beating quickly when she realised she hadn’t exactly taken the sandwich, but hadn’t rejected your offer, either.
“i want you to be my first taster. if it’s good, i’ll call the team down to have it as well. and if it’s bad…” you shrugged, half-laughing in anticipation as natasha finally took it, taking a small bite in front of you.
she took a moment to chew, face in contemplation, as if she were assessing a fine dining establishment before you. you began taking off your apron, deciding to let the chefs help you take over for the serving of the food later on, and started packing your things.
just before you left, however, you noticed natasha fully into the entryway of the kitchen again, sandwich half-eaten.
“it’s okay,” she said nonchalantly, wiping a little bit off the ends of her lips. “it’s edible.”
you nodded, hiding a smile. “okay means good. i’ll tell the team to come down, then.”
natasha shrugged this time, as if saying if that’s what you want. when you left to shower, however, she smiled quietly to herself, and after making sure that no one was around, did a little happy dance from one of the most delicious sandwiches she had ever eaten. it was more than okay, it was the best breakfast she had ever had. she only wished she had the courage to tell you so.
the redhead then tore the part of your handwriting of her initials off the wrapper, and kept it in her pocket for the rest of the day.
natasha never really knew what to do on her day-offs. it felt weird, to be sitting around doing nothing. she could do her remaining paperwork, but she knew if tony caught her, he would ban her from working on it at all for a week, leaving her even more bored and restless.
she could sleep in, or explore new york for the day, but she wasn’t fully confident that her russian accent wouldn’t throw the average new yorker off yet. it also didn’t help that ever since her joining the avengers, there was always someone around the block who recognised who she was, who let their eyes rake over her figure for far too long, who made her feel uncomfortable when they got too close to ask for a picture. the others never seemed to mind, but she did.
she noticed you always seemed to step in when it got too much; telling the fans that enough was enough, or simply holding her waist and slowly whisking her away from their prying eyes and grubby hands. she threw her head back onto her pillow at the thought of your hands on her waist again. natasha seriously needed to stop thinking about you, and her festering crush, whenever she had the opportunity. she needed to busy herself.
but when you appeared in the commons right as she stepped out of her room to ask what you planned to do on your day-off, you were in your coat and scarf, prepared to head out. the rest of the team was still lazily lounging around the area, in a dazed state from the aftermath of your coma-inducing breakfast.
“where are you going?” she asked, not wanting to pry too much, but still allowing herself to feed her own curiosity.
she hated that you always replied with a tone that seemed like it was painfully obvious what you were doing. “out.”
“i know, but–”
“hey romanoff, are you still coming for the basketball game later? steve needs to book the seats.” tony called out to her before she could finish the sentence. he asked you too, but you reaffirmed with him that you weren’t coming.
you shifted your scarf slightly, turning your attention back to her. “you ever been to a basketball game before? you’ll like it. the warriors are something else.”
natasha shook her head. you knew she had never been. but it didn’t mean that she wanted to go, not without you around. but she also didn’t have the courage to ask if she could tag along to wherever you were going. she knew her limits.
you didn’t seem to take the hint of her wanting to come along, despite her readily asking if you were going to meet someone, or if you were just going out alone, and if you had plans for after. you simply waved her goodbye, and told her to enjoy the game with the team.
she sighed in irritation when you left, much to the amusement of clint behind her. “does she have a girlfriend or something? is that what she’s using her day-offs for?”
if clint wasn’t already hiding his grin, his friend’s newfound annoyance at your departure definitely made him let out a chuckle. “not that i know of.”
natasha didn’t have much to do that day, and it wasn’t like she was particularly looking forward to the game either, so she decided to spend her day-off the only way she knew how, using her spying skills and finding out what you were doing with yours.
in retrospect, natasha knew that you probably wouldn’t have liked being stalked, or followed around without her telling you why, or even simply her not taking the initiative to just ask, when you would have told her willingly of what you spent your breaks on.
she followed you into the university uptown, where natasha knew you guest-lectured in between longer breaks from missions. she just never expected you to come in on your days-off as well.
you tapped your card in to the science department of the school, while natasha snuck past the security guard after causing a well-crafted distraction. when you entered the lockers to change into your lab coat, natasha waited patiently outside like a schoolgirl hiding from their crush. she supposed she wasn’t so different from one then.
it was only when you walked down the halls into a room guarded by a facial recognition scan, that natasha finally got to know that she a) wasn’t being so discreet after all, or b) you were a better agent than you let on to her. she should have known that you didn’t get promoted through the ranks so fast, so young, without reasons.
the machine scanned your face, and as the door unlocked, you stood there for a moment, holding it wide open, before leaning your head to the side, one eye locked with hers.
“do you want to come in and see as well, or do you plan on just waiting for me until i finish?”
if clint had seen the embarrassment on her face, along with the walk of shame she had to put on to enter the room with you, he would have certainly made her the laughing stock of the compound for the day.
you drew up a chair for natasha as you went to your usual work station, a little early for your patient. in the few minutes that the two of you were alone, you hadn’t engaged her at all, simply directing her to sit and watch, while you prepared your materials and waited for your lab assistant. natasha was a little unnerved, and in awe at your professionalism, at the same time.
you clicked your tongue in slight annoyance as your assistant came in five minutes late, reminding him, almost naggingly, that you only had one day-off per week, and it was precious time that he was wasting for the both of you. he apologised, and got to work helping you set up what looked like a robotic prosthetic leg, on your station.
the lab was pristine; white-tiled walls and floors scrubbed clean with a very strong stench of antiseptic ensuring to even the most sceptic of minds that you knew what you were doing, and that the lab was clean; if the multiple diagrams of your inventions on the walls and the prototypes lining the shelves around her were not enough proof. you had never told her you had a lab.
a few minutes later, two knocks on the door were heard, and your assistant rushed over to open the door for a man no younger than seventy, hobbling in with great difficulty as he tried to offer help with his support, only to be rejected with a wave of his hand and an upbeat smile. he was an amputee.
oh. this was what your days-off were for.
“hello, mr. miller. you look cheerful today.” you got up from your seat to shake his hand. he took your support this time, leading himself to the plush armchair placed across your station.
he laughed, rough and loud. “david, how many times have i come in here and asked you to call me?”
you smiled sheepishly. “sorry, david. let me help you with this.”
he winced as you kneeled down beside him, outstretching his prosthetic leg and inspecting it. your assistant took notes as you made observations of the various deficiencies and defects it suffered through david’s use of it for the past six months. natasha watched as your hands, the ones that would hold her at night when she cried, the ones that punched the faces of enemies trying to get to her, the very same hands that made her breakfast that morning, ran over the intricate details and bolts and nuts of the prosthetic leg she learned you made just for david, knowing what was wrong just by the feel and touch of them. she adored those hands so much.
then, you helped him take off the prosthetic, instructing your assistant to hold his hand in encouragement as he winced at the removal. “there we go. wasn’t so bad this time, right? and the leg did hold up quite well, for six months.”
“well, you do maintenance to it every week,” david patted your back, “hard to fuck it up so bad when you fix it up every time i try to, right?”
you laughed, and natasha stopped herself from smiling. at your signal, the assistant brought forth the limb that you both had been working on to replace david’s old one for the past year, shiny and new. the man positively gleamed at the sight of it.
“ready for a bit of a change, though, mr. miller?”
“now, that is a beauty,” he said as his eyes latched on, before they inevitably noticed natasha sat at the corner of where the limb was, and she swore he held recognition for her instantly.
you followed his gaze, before his met yours, and the playful smirk he let out was all that you needed to know that he knew. “is that your…”
“...friend, natasha,” you replied him quickly, eyes slightly panicked and subtly, not so subtly, shaking your head to ask him to stop before he let out your little secret.
“is she the one–”
“–yes, david. she’s the one.”
he finally caught the hint, and chuckled to himself as he waved hi to her. she waved back, no doubt in confusion of the connection between him and her. she made a mental note to ask you about it later.
when the new leg was fitted on him, david was practically almost jumping for joy at the new flexibility and strength it gave him. his laughter was infectious, as natasha quickly learned, when it caught up to her after it caught you and the assistant, as well.
“look at the reflexes! and fluidity of this thing!” no longer was he hobbling and exerting his entire strength on the one leg, it was almost as if the leg was natural and part of him itself, as david brought you in for a hug enthusiastically.
you hugged him back, still grinning. “amazing right, what science can do for you. soon, the future of prosthetics is going to change, and we can make so many more lives better in our community.”
“you two are amazing, simply amazing!” david exclaimed, even as he finally accepted the assistant’s help in testing out the other features of the prosthetic.
natasha stayed until the end of the day for you, when david’s tests were complete and he was all but ready to leave.
“and to what i owe you this time, again?” he asked. you knew he didn’t have much, it was the sole reason you took him on for the project; but the fact that he remained so grateful, always offering payment, even when you had repeatedly rejected him, always touched you.
“for you to come back next week, as always. and to thank mr. parker here for all his efforts. i couldn’t have done all this without him.”
your assistant looked like he was going to cry at the recognition and hug david gave him. “doing a good job, kid.”
you held the door open for david then, and he stole one last glance at natasha before he left. “you know, your girlfriend here really is a genius, ms. black widow. the best of her–”
“–thank you, david!” you cut in, visibly more in a panic this time, as you held his hand and ushered him out, “just a friend, a friend!”
“what?” he didn’t seem keen to leave, “i’m just helping the two of you speed things along. god knows she wouldn’t have stayed here in this boring lab all day, running tests on an old war veteran running his mouth, if she wasn’t smitten with you too!”
natasha’s cheeks instantly reddened, as you sighed in embarrassment. so maybe her feelings were reciprocated, for a while now.
with the assistant chuckling in the background, you shut the door ushering david out, whispering frustratedly that he was leaking all of your secrets about natasha. “david! i told you and peter about her in confidence!”
“i know, but you didn’t tell me she was head over heels for you too.”
“because she’s not!” you whisper-yelled, “she came just to see what i was doing, and…and…”
and…oh.
david’s look made sense now. it all made sense now. her shyness around you, the way she always wanted you around, always wanted to know what you were doing, the reasons for her coming all this way to accompany you on your day-off.
you had thought she wouldn’t be interested, and would leave after seeing what your activities just were, but you hadn’t expected her to stay. and you hadn’t expected to feel her gaze on you throughout.
“when you know, you know.” he assured, patting you on the back again as he walked off, “trust me, kid. and she’s a good one, you picked a good one.”
your assistant had retreated to his corner of the lab when you came back in, while natasha stretched her joints and got ready to leave too. it was dark by then, and you felt guilty for making her stay past dinner. you excused your assistant to leave quickly, before finally turning to her.
“sorry.”
“for what?” she yawned.
“for trapping you here with me on your day-off. i feel guilty now.”
she rolled her eyes, before jabbing you slightly. “idiot. i stayed because i wanted to stay. and you didn’t force me here, in fact, i was the one who followed you, remember?”
“yeah, you do need to make sure that the person you’re stalking isn’t a super spy like you before you do that, though.”
at the blush on her cheeks and feigned hurt on her face, you quickly decided to change the subject. “what david said earlier…ignore him. he’s old, a little senile. really doesn’t know what he’s saying.”
“really?” natasha frowned, “that’s a shame.”
you nodded, biting your lip as you leaned back against the counter of your station. she continued, “i really wanted what he said to be true.”
you blinked in surprise, unable to hide the shock on your face. it was your turn to be nervous around natasha now. it was always the other way around. perhaps the knowledge of knowing your feelings were mutual beckoned you to retreat to a shy disposition you never showed anyone else.
natasha shrugged. “damn, i really thought i had a chance with the most wonderful, kind-hearted person i know, who would spend her days off, even, to help people. who i thought was hiding to meet a secret girlfriend or something.”
a smile began to creep its way onto your face. “n-no, no secret girlfriend.”
“shame. i bet that secret girlfriend would be so in awe, falling even more for this person, when she finds out what she does for the people around her. a superhero saving the lives of many as an avenger, and a scientist changing the lives of even more as a civilian.”
“mm,” you took off your lab coat then, coming closer to her. she had a playful glint in her eyes as she put one hand on your chest, preventing you from getting too close. “tell me more praises of what this secret girlfriend would feel about me.”
“this secret girlfriend also does not appreciate when you keep such lovely secrets from her,” she felt your arms on the counter behind her now, entrapping her body with yours, “and when you try to do anything without taking her to dinner first. she’s starving, you know.”
the chuckle that left your lips made natasha only want to kiss you even more. “what do you say i make this secret girlfriend not-so-secret now, and invite her out to dinner with me? her favourite italian down the street from here, my treat.”
in response, the woman before you finally let go of the hand on your chest, and brought her hands to your collar to pull you in, leaving a searing kiss on your lips that left you lightheaded and longing for more, at the same time.
she held your hand as the both of you walked out of the university, before declaring something she had to say before she forgot, “tell david he should expect to see me around the lab every week from now on too, then.”
“yes ma’am.”

@yellowwwcrayon asked for things to be sent to them to cheer them up. so i wrote logan getting jealous over someone flirting with wade, as requested. hope it helps <3
They stop by the diner on the next block the morning after their first night in the new place, a narrow two-bedroom about twenty percent bigger and six blocks further from the subway. By the time the waitress gets them to their table, Wade already has her laughing, surprised and genuine, and the way she locks eyes with him when she pours his coffee is--it's nothing that Logan should feel any way about, but after a thoroughly sleepless night in his own bedroom, alone in bed for the first time in three months, he's given up pretending. It makes him feel a way.
She walks off and Wade doesn't watch her go. "So how'd you sleep last night? Is the luxury of a double bed all to yourself everything you were promised it would be?"
"It was fine," Logan says. The mattress had been an improvement over the pullout couch, at least.
"I starfished so hard," Wade says. "I went full snow angel. It was incredible." He sighs, smiling blissfully. Which is fine. Of course he prefers having his own space.
Wade lists the thrift stores he wants to check for dishes and furniture. Logan nods along and scans the menu for what to suggest to Wade when he inevitably forgets to look at it and the waitress asks what he wants.
She comes back after a couple minutes. "What can I get you guys?"
"Eggs over easy with bacon and home fries," Logan says, handing over his menu.
Wade looks his own up and down, fast enough that he's definitely not actually reading it. "I want. Uh. Logan, what do I want?"
"Waffles," Logan tells him.
"Fantastic choice." Wade gives him a thumbs up. "Waffles please, Emily. Can they come with strawberries and whipped cream?"
"Well..." She smiles at him. "I mean, they don't, but we have strawberries for the fruit salad and whipped cream for sundaes, so I'm sure we can make that happen."
Wade smiles back, bright and genuine. They're both being completely genuine. She's not pretending to be charmed for a bigger tip; she just likes Wade. Logan can't exactly blame her for that. And Wade likes her. It's hard to tell exactly how much, though. He's been in a good mood since Logan woke up.
"Emily," Wade says, "you're an angel. The biblically accurate kind, which is way cooler than a dude in a robe."
Emily giggles like she's recognizing a reference to something. She's good-looking, late twenties, maybe. Black hair in a ponytail and tortoiseshell glasses and fucking besotted with Wade, who may or may not realize he's flirting with her. There's no reason for him not to flirt with her.
Logan doesn't realize he's scowling until she leaves and Wade leans across the table. "What's got your fur all puffed out, kittycat?" he says. "I haven't seen that level of bitch face from you in weeks."
He makes his face go neutral, probably. "Nothing. What were you saying about IKEA?"
"Ridiculously overpriced for the quality, ever since they became a cultural icon. You're literally just paying for the brand at this point."
The food can't take more than ten minutes to arrive, but Emily manages to stop by to refill their coffee twice. By the time she sets Logan's eggs in front of him, she's calling Wade by his name and making some kind of reference to a TV show that apparently went off the air over twenty years ago, which of course Wade understands.
The idea of Wade hitting it off with someone, dating them, finding someone to be serious about again, should make Logan glad for him. God knows the guy deserves it. And the worst part is Logan is glad, it genuinely feels good to see Wade happy and looking comfortable to be out in public without the mask, with someone who clearly really likes him.
It just also feels fucking terrible, for reasons Logan hasn't even had a full day yet to consciously process.
Emily sets Wade's plate down, revealing that the strawberry slices on the waffle have been arranged into a smiley face. Wade claps his hands in delight. Logan's spoon bends in his fist. He puts some food in his mouth without tasting it, because he's genuinely worried he might say something.
Wade blows a kiss at Emily as she walks backwards away from the table, and Logan makes a noise around his eggs. Wade looks back at him, eyebrows raised.
"Did something go down the wrong pipe, peanut?"
"A little young for you, isn't she?" It sounds stupid coming out of his mouth. He doesn't know why he's saying anything at all.
Wade doesn't lower his eyebrows. "Thirty-two is pretty solidly in my half-your-age-plus-seven range. Not that you have a leg to stand on. Blind Al isn't even in your range. You can pretty much only date vampires."
"Thirty-two?" Logan says, skeptical. "How do you know?"
"She told me," Wade says. "You were there, looking like she just took a dump in your pina colada. For no apparent reason, since she definitely didn't do that."
Logan's so fucking stupid. "Forget it."
Wade shakes his head. "No, sorry, I'm interested now. It was a joke before, but literally if you had cat ears they'd be flat as hell right now. Tail swishing ominously, puffed up, the whole nine yards. Why are you so pissed someone's being nice to me?"
"I'm not--"
Wade reaches over and pulls the bent spoon out of Logan's hand. "Sure. Cool as a cucumber, that's you. Seriously, did she do something bad?"
He's frowning, a little, like he's genuinely open to the possibility of the woman he's into having some secret evil tell that only Logan noticed. He always takes Logan so fucking seriously. Nobody's done that since--he can't remember. Since before everything went wrong.
"She's fine," Logan says. He thinks he sounds mostly normal. "It's fine. Fuck off."
Wade's eyes go cartoonishly wide, and Logan's stomach turns over. "Holy fucking shit are you jealous?"
"Shut the fuck up," Logan says, low and dangerous. Wade's grin practically splits his face in half.
"You're jealous, oh my god. You like me. You have a crush on me, oh my god, this is so fucking cool."
He can't do this. "Go fuck yourself," he snarls, and slides out of the booth and stands up. His face feels hot. He wants to punch Wade, but he wants to get out of here more; he's three long steps away when Wade calls after him.
"Logan, wait!" He sounds urgent. Almost scared, which doesn't make any sense. "It's okay, I'm not--I'm sorry, I'm being a huge asshole. Please don't storm out of our first brunch in the new neighborhood, I'll be too sad to put the receipt in my scrapbook. There'll just be a blank space. It'll be heartbreaking."
Logan's so fucking tired. From not sleeping, but even more from Wade sounding genuinely apologetic, like he thinks he's done something wrong. Logan sighs and turns around. The spoon is spinning back and forth in Wade's fingers. He probably doesn't even know he's fidgeting with it.
"Can you just not fucking joke about it?" he mutters, and sits heavily back down.
"No, I'm not--I mean, it's not--" Wade frowns, pressing his lips together like he wants to say something.
Logan waits, for lack of any better option.
"I like you too," Wade says. It comes out in a rush, quiet and earnest. "I like you a lot. More than Emily. Was she really flirting with me? I don't think she was flirting with me. Can I come sit on your side, or is that too forward?" His brow furrows, and he leans back, away from Logan. "Not that you're like, required to date me now, just because you have--wow, I am making a lot of assumptions, sorry, it's just kind of nerve-wracking because you haven't said anything or even moved a single muscle in your face and I'm starting to feel like I've drastically misjudged the situation but I can't figure out how and it's making me a little manic."
"Wade," Logan says. Wade's mouth shuts. Something in Logan's chest clenches tight for a second, then flutters open.
He slides over to the inside of the booth, making room.
When Emily comes back with yet more coffee, Logan watches her face fall. She takes a breath and rolls her shoulders back. "How's everything tasting?" she says, with a smile only a little less bright.
"Fantastic," Wade says. "Are these local strawberries?"
"It's November," she says, "so no."
"Then I must just be tasting the love you put into them," Wade says, squeezing Logan's hand. Logan nudges Wade's foot with his own and smiles down at his plate as Emily laughs.
"Oh shit, she was flirting with me," Wade hisses once she's gone again. "What the fuck, that never fucking happens! I mean it used to happen constantly but then, you know, Extreme Makeover: Face Edition. Which makes your sudden affection all the more inexplicable, but--gift horse, mouth, et cetera. We should tip her a lot, I think."
"Yeah," Logan agrees. "She's got good taste. Ought to be rewarded."
"Now you're flirting with me?" Wade's voice comes out higher than normal. He coughs. "Tell me your feelings on PDA, I need to know right now immediately."
Wade is staring at his mouth, swaying even further into his space. Logan tries to remember how he felt five hours ago in the pre-dawn dark, alone in his cold too-wide bed, but it's already fuzzed over and distant.
"Go for it," he says, and then he's being kissed. Wade's mouth is sweet with syrup, and pleasantly bitter beneath that. Logan kisses him back, loses track of time for a minute.
When they leave, Wade puts enough cash on the table to cover their bill twice over. Logan adds another ten dollars and his silent, fervent thanks.

SPIDER ROSE🌹🕷️
Father Miguel x Mother Reader
Warning: Mentions of death. Might need tissues for this one🥲
I got a request for this from someone, but it’s taken me a while to get around to it. Sadly the ask disappeared so I don’t know who asked for it🥲.
I hope you enjoy this one-shot.🥰

————————————————————————
The sky was a vibrant blue, and the sun was bright white as its heat beat down over Nueva York.
It was mid-morning on Saturday when your body felt ready to wake up. You took a deep breath as you sat up in bed. A smile graced your lips as you looked out the window from your brownstone. You looked down at your sleeping husband, arm draped over you. You leaned down and kissed his cheek, gently moving his arm from around you as you got out of bed.
A boost of energy you hadn't felt in a long time washed through you as you got up and dressed. You walked to the bedroom down the hall and gently opened the door. Your heart warmed when you saw the silly way your 8-year-old daughter was sleeping, snoring slightly, just like her father.
You then went to the kitchen, wanting to make a large breakfast for your husband and daughter's two bottomless pit stomachs.
When 30 minutes went by, you heard your husband waking up. You smiled when you felt arms wrapped around your middle and lips on your neck.
"Everything smells amazing, mi amor. How are you feeling today?" Miguel took a piece of bacon from the plate before you could smack his hand with the spatula. "I guess you have some energy today. I'm relieved to see it."
"Actually, I feel really great today. I haven't had this much energy in a while. We should do something fun today, like go to Coney Island. We can go on rides, play games, and go to the beach! And let's just let her eat whatever she wants today." You are suddenly turned around as your husband's hand caresses your cheek as you lean into his touch.
You looked up at him with a small smile, and he looked down at you with worry and fear in his eyes. "Y/n, maybe I should take you—" You placed your hands on his face to stop him from finishing his sentence, shaking your head. Tears threatened to spill from your eyes, and your breathing started to quicken. Fear started to fill the pit of your stomach.
"Honey, I don't want to. We've talked about this. Let's just have an amazing day together as a family. Please." You pleaded as you looked up at him with tearful eyes.
Miguel took a deep breath, tears threatening to leave his own eyes. His heart trying its best to stop it from shattering. He forced a smile to his face as he wrapped his arms around you, bringing you against him.
You wrap your arms around his neck, look up, and kiss his lips deeply, "Thank you."
Moments later, you heard your daughter wake up and walk into the kitchen in her cat PJs. You smiled lovingly at her as she yawned and rubbed sleep out of her eyes.
"Good morning, sweetheart. How did you sleep?"
You place a plate of waffles with a whipped cream smiley face, berries, bacon, and scrambled eggs on it.
You saw her brown eyes light up at the feast before her.
"Good morning! Yay! Waffles! Thanks, Mom." She hugs you tightly from her seat on the stool as you happily hug her back and kiss the top of her head.
"Of course." You smile as you make a plate for Miguel and you as you both sit across from your daughter.
As you eat, Gabi smiles as she sees her father give her mom a piece of his bacon and strawberries, which both her parents love to eat.
She looks at her mom, who gives her father a look only the two know before she kisses his cheek in thanks.
"Hey, Princesa, do you want to go to Coney Island today?" Miguel took the empty plates and put them in the sink.
"Really? Yes, yes, yes! I'll go get ready." Gabi quickly jumped from her chair and rushed to her room. "Don't forget to wear a bathing suit!" you yelled down the hall.
After getting ready and managing through traffic, you finally made it to Coney Island. Gabi excitedly runs ahead with you and Miguel, telling her to stay by your side since it was crowded and you wanted her to stay near you.
"Can we go on this one?" Gabi tugs on your hand as she points to the wooden roller coaster.
"Princesa, I'm not sure-"
"Of course we can!" You interrupt Miguel, who gives you a stern look. You take his hand and give it a love squeeze to reassure your very protective husband that you will be fine. Miguel sighs as he smiles.
"Alright. I'll hold your stuff while you two go on it."
You kissed your husband's cheek as he held the items. You and Gabi happily went on the roller coaster, skipping to the front because you bought fast passes.
As you get situated on the ride and it starts to move, you can see Gabi become nervous as she holds your hand and clings to you. But after that first drop, she became more brave, only needing to hold your hand.
After you left the ride, you made sure to purchase the photo taken while the two of you were on it.
"We look so silly!" Gabi giggled as she looked at the photo. You laugh with her as you see the startled look on both of your faces. You both returned to Miguel, who walked over to you when he saw you in the crowd.
"Dad, look!" Gabi shows Miguel the photo, bringing a wide smile to his face.
"So that's where I heard the screaming from." He chuckled.
"Ooo, let's go on this one next!" Gabi says as she pulls your hand again to move in the direction she wants to go.
After riding all the fun rides, you watched as Gabi and Miguel sat at the chairs with the water gun game. When the buzzer went off, they raced to see which stuffed bear attached to the machine would get to the top first. Of course, Miguel purposely messed up a few times to let Gabi win, as she jumped from her seat when the siren went off.
Gabi chose her prize: a medium-sized, bright blue stuffed animal, a cartoon cat.
"I'm going to name him Sky!" Gabi smiled as she hugged her stuffed animal. She then saw another game in which you use a mallet to try to hit the bell.
"Oh, Dad, can we win something for Mom?" Gabi said as she pointed to the other game.
"Of course we can." Miguel smiled as he winked at you, making you smile with tinted cheeks. Even after being married for 15 years, he still knew how to make you flustered. When it was his turn, he lifted the giant mallet and hit it as hard as he could. Even though his workout regime was a lot less than when he was in his 20s and 30s, his athletic build now, with a dad bod, still could make the bell ring.
After winning a prize, Miguel handed you a stuffed red rose pillow with a cute, happy face.
"Here you go, Hermosa." Miguel wrapped his arm around your shoulders as he victoriously kissed you. His prize for winning the game.
After playing every game possible and eating some carnival food in between, the three of you were now relaxing at the beach.
As you and Miguel watched Gabi play in the water, you leaned your body against him, feeling tired.
You forced your eyes open, the light stinging your eyes a bit, as you saw Gabi hold something up in the air that she had found in the water.
"Mom! Dad! Look what I found!" Gabi happily ran up to the two of you as she sat on the beach blanket, showing you two a beautiful clam that was still shut.
"Wow, princesa, that's a good find." Miguel smiled as he held.
"Can you open it? Maybe there's a pearl!" Gabi couldn't sit still as Miguel opened the clam with a kitchen knife brought for the picnic.
"Here you go."
"Thank you!" Gabi set it down on the blanket as she looked to see if there was a hidden treasure. "Look!" Gabi held up a beautiful white pearl before handing it to you to look closer.
"Oh, it's so beautiful, Gabi. Do you want me to make it a necklace?" Your smile widens when you see her face.
"Yes! Can you keep it safe for me, Mom?"
"Of course, sweetie." You put the pearl in your wallet so it wouldn't get misplaced. As soon as you get home, you will make her the necklace.
After spending a couple more hours at the beach, plus grabbing dinner at your favorite local pizzeria, it was time to head home.
You helped Gabi wash up after playing in the water and sand all day, and then she got into a new pair of pajamas. Then, all three of you got comfortable on the couch watching a movie.
As you were sitting there, you smiled as you heard Gabi's laughter from the movie, trying to imprint it in your mind while you made the necklace. You had taken a sterling silver chain from your jewelry box and made a hole towards the top of the pearl with a needle. You made sure to add stoppers so the pearl stayed in place.
You felt tired after the third movie credits rolled by. "OK, princesa, time for bed."
"Aw, OK." You stand up, take her hand, and walk her to bed. You chuckled when you heard her yawn.
You sit on her bed and help tuck her in for bed. As she sits up, you open your palm to see the necklace in your hand. "Here you go," you say.
"It's so beautiful! Thank you, Mama!" Gabi wrapped her arms around you and hugged you, to which you happily returned. A tear fell down your cheek, but you wiped it away quickly before she could see it.
"You'll grow into it as you age; that's why the chain is a bit longer now." You helped put the necklace on her.
You brush some of her hair back from her face as you take in every detail of her. "Sweetheart, you know I love you, right?"
"Yeah! I love you, too. Can you read me a story?" Gabi takes one of her books and hands it to you. You happily take it from her as you sit fully on the bed next to her, as she places her head on your lap.
After some reading, you notice she has fallen asleep. You carefully place her head on her pillow without waking her, kissing her cheek, "Good night, my baby girl." You look at her for a moment before you slowly walk out of her room. You turn around and look at her one last time.
As soon as her door was closed, you leaned against the door. Exhausted beyond compare, you lean your body on the wall, feeling like you'll collapse to the floor. Before you do, Miguel helps you by letting you lean on him. He was leading you to your shared bedroom; however, you stopped him and gave him a weak smile. "Can we sleep out on the terrace tonight? The sky is so beautiful."
Miguel smiled in agreement as he grabbed all the blankets, pillows, and comforters and brought them outside to the super-soft sofa bed. After making it comfortable, you and Miguel got cozy under the covers. He wrapped his arms around you as he pulled you against him.
"Thank you." You smile as you look up at him. Leaning your head forward, you place your lips on his. His fingers find their way into your hair as he deepens the kiss. You feel water drip on your cheeks. Once you pull away, you see tears fall down his face.
You gently wiped them away with a sad smile as he took your wrist and kissed it. His tear-stained eyes met your teary ones.
"I'm sorry."
"Please, Hermosa. Let me take you to the hospital so you can get treatment. Please."
"Miguel, we've talked about this. When we found out, my cancer came back, and my odds were not good even with treatment. I would have been barely able to get out of bed, sick and miserable, and still would have died. At least I could spend time with you and Gabi like normal. So that the last few months with me wasn't filled with memories of me being sick, but happy memories."
"But there was a small chance." Miguel barely said above a whisper as he began to shake a little, the reality of losing you coming to his mind.
"Miguel, look at me. The chance was less than 5%. Even the doctors were not hopeful. This past year has been an amazing one. And...And you and Gabi will have so many amazing years. Please, Miguel. Don't willow away when I'm gone. Promise me. You won't." You look up at him as your thumb caresses his cheek.
"I promise."
"OK. Now, let's end this fabulous day on a good note. Let this be...let this be a final good memory."
Miguel took your chin, lifting it as he kissed you deeply. Tears fell down your face as you wanted to remember the taste of his lips, the smell of his shampoo and cologne, and how beautifully they mixed together.
For the rest of the night, you talked about memories from the past twenty years—the five years you were college friends and dated and the fifteen years you were married, with eight of them being with your beautiful daughter. More tears were shed, and some laughs as well. You felt him one last time inside you before you ended up cuddling again, looking at the starry night.
Miguel had sworn he would not fall asleep, wanting every second left with you.
You smiled as you brushed some of his hair from his now sleeping face. Your eyes grow heavy as you fall asleep next to your husband.
You woke up to the early rise of the sun. You took a deep, shaky breath in the beauty of the various colors across the sky. Your gaze turned to your still-sleeping husband. If only you could see his beautiful brown eyes one last time. But you decided against waking him.
Your lips met his one last time as you whispered, " I love you, Miguel, in this life and in the next."
You looked to the sun one last time before a sudden wave of fatigue and peace you never felt before washed over you as your eyes closed, entering the eternal slumber.
An hour passed when Miguel's eyes opened. He looked at the sunrise before turning to look at you. The eerie stillness of your body made his heart skyrocket.
"Y/n?" He gently placed his hand on your face. His stomach dropped when he felt how cold your skin was. It was too cold.
"No...no, no.no, no!" Miguel sat up as he lifted your limp body and cradled you in his lap.
"It wasn't time yet. I wasn't ready. Please come back, mi amor. I'm not ready." His breathing couldn't be controlled as panic and pain filled his entire being.
He caressed your face as his forehead was on yours. Brown eyes staring into your closed ones. If only he could see your beautiful eyes one more time.
"Please, mi amor. Please come back to me." Tears fell uncontrollably down his face as he yelled out loud in pain.
...
Gabriella woke up late in the morning. She gently sat up in bed as she rubbed her eyes. Her lips turned into a pout, starting to feel grumpy as her mom usually came in to wake her up.
The house was eerily quiet except for her father's voice and Uncle's. She grabbed her stuffed animal she won yesterday and walked out of her room towards the sound of people talking.
When she entered the living room, she saw her father on the sofa, hands resting on his knees as his face was in his hands. He was crying. And next to him was her Uncle Gabe, who was consoling him.
"Dad? Why are you crying?"
Her father's head shot up as he looked at her with tearful red eyes. "Gabriella? What are you doing up?"
"Mama didn't come in to wake me."
Her words seemed to bring more pain to her father's face. "Gabriella come here."
She went to her father as he sat her on his lap. He wrapped her in his arms as he cried.
"Dad, what's wrong? Where's Mom?"
Miguel looked down at his daughter as he took in the features she had gotten from you.
"There is something that I need to tell you."
...
Gabi held her father's hand as she watched her mother's coffin get lowered into the ground. She looked up at her father, who had tears running down his face. This past week, since she found out about your passing, her father couldn't stop crying.
She couldn't stop crying, either. She missed you terribly—the way you held her, your smile, your voice, the way you comforted her when she was sad, like now. But now you weren't here to comfort her.
...
7 years later
"Gabriella! Come on! Get up! You're going to be late for school!"
Gabriella woke up startled as she heard her father yelling from the kitchen. She winced in pain as she got up too quickly. Grabbing her clothes to get dressed, she groaned out loud. She had stayed up too late last night.
After getting ready, she reached the kitchen, where her father passed her a plate with eggs and toast.
"Shoot. I'm going to be late for work. Are you going to be OK getting to school yourself?" Her father looked at his watch in panic as he quickly moved around the kitchen to find and grab his things. Gabriella's eyes went to the chain around her father's neck, dangling on it a wedding ring.
A painful ache covered her body as she looked at it. It was her mother's ring. Even though both she and her father have gotten the strength to keep on going after these seven years, it still feels like a fresh wound sometimes.
Sometimes, she would lie awake at night, tears streaming down her face as she looked at a picture of her and her mother together.
"I'll be home in time for dinner. Do you want me to pick up Ricky's Diner on my way home?" Miguel kissed the top of his daughter's head as she hugged him.
"Sounds good!" She said with her mouth full. Miguel chuckled as he looked at his daughter's silly face. Gabi smiled when she saw her father smiling. It's not that he hasn't smiled or laughed in a while; she just knew it was the only moment she knew her father briefly felt joy.
Before her father left, he stopped at the front door as he turned around, " Princesa, remember. Be home by dinner. N-"
"No later. I hear you loud and clear." Gabriella finished his sentence as she gave him an extra cheery smile.
Miguel chuckled, opening the door: "Don't be late. Love you."
"Love you too!"
After eating, she grabbed her bag and returned to her bedroom. She opened her window as she hopped out into the escape landing.
"Another day, another place to protect. Isn't that right, Mom?"  Gabriella smiled as she looked at the pearl necklace around her neck with an additional piece. She opened up a silver rose locket as her thumb grazed over a photo of her mother.
She pulled the dark purple and light pink mask over her face before she stretched out her arm web, shooting from her wrist as she shot off into the skyline.
...
After a long day at school, which included skipping early when she found out there had been a major robbery, Gabriella swung through the city, almost falling and bumping into a few places.
It had only been 6 months since she was bitten by the radioactive Spider when she visited her Father at Alchamex.
Of course, she hasn't told her father, as he would worry to high heaven that she has been putting herself in constant danger. The only person who does know is her Uncle Gabe, who had accidentally seen her stuck to the ceiling.
She was on her way home with an hour to spare before her father would get home with dinner.
The radio earpiece went off: "Send all available vehicles to Alchemex HQ. A large explosion occurred on the north side of the campus."
Gabriella's stomach dropped as her heart began to beat a mile a minute. She shot out a web towards a building, turning opposite from the house.
Her father worked on that side of Alchemex.
Under the mask, her eyes widened as she saw the massive ball of fire and smoke coming out of the building. She found a way in through a broken window.
She coughed as a gust of smoke blew towards her. Running through, she saved anyone who was stuck or unconscious.
"Help! Please help me!" Gabriella heard a woman's plea as she made her way over there. As she turned the corner, she saw a woman trapped under a fallen ceiling...and a man in a white lab coat trying to lift it off her.
"Da- I'm mean, sir, let me help you lift it."
Gabriella stood by her father as she easily lifted the rubble, thanks to her super strength.
After the rubble was removed, the woman thanked you and Miguel before running towards an exit.
Her father turned to her as his eyes widened.
"What are you doing here? You need to leave immediately. This place is dangerous." Her father grabbed her hand as he tried to lead her out of the burning building.
"What do you mean. There was an explosion." She stopped, making him stop with her. "There could be others in there. Sir, you need to get out safely. I'll be fine."
She removed his hand as she was about to go further into the burning building when she heard a crack above her. Before she could register it, the ceiling collapsed, and everything went black.
Her head was pounding as they opened. She coughed as she slowly got up from the ground. Her body ached everywhere. As her vision returned to focus, she saw the rubble she was supposed to be under.
Her eyes widened as she saw a body lying underneath. "No, no, no, no!" She lifts the fallen ceiling off of him. She checked his pulse and sighed in relief. It was slow. She needed to get him out of here.
She grabbed his arm and hauled his upper body on her back, making her way out of the building as quickly as possible.
She laid him on the ground when she was far away from the building. Her eyes scanned to see how much damage was made.
He then coughed. "S-sir, you'll be alright. I'll take you to the hospital." Gabriella felt a hand on her face as tears streamed down it.
"No need, Princesa. I won't make it in time."
Her eyes widened as she heard the name her father called her.
"Princesa? Sir, I don't know what you-"
"I know, Gabi. I've known for a while." Her father removed her mask, showing her face. He brushed her tears away with his thumb.
"You'll be fine, Dad. Promise me you'll be fine."
"You look so much like her. She would be so proud of you like I am." Gabriella held her father's hand against her cheek as tears streamed faster down her face.
"Please, Dad. I can't lose you too."
"You'll be fine. It might hurt for a while. But I know you'll do great things one day."
"No, please don't say that."
"It's OK, princesa. No matter what, I'll always be with you and love you even if you can't see me."
"I love you too."
...
1 year later
Gabriella sat on the damp grass as her tired eyes gazed at the marble slab before her.
Here lies Y/n O'Hara and her husband, Miguel O'Hara.
Around the carved stone were pink roses, her mother's favorite, as she placed a fresh bouquet in the vase.
Gabriella turned around, surprised, when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Her gaze briefly moved towards the man who resembled her father.
"You can't run away like that, Gabi. I was worried sick about you. You've been here for hours in the rain. You'll catch a cold. I promise we can return to see them once you get some rest and food."
She sighed as she wiped away her tears. "Alright. Bye, mom...Dad."
Listening to him, she reluctantly stood up from the grass, wiping away mud from her legs.
"You promise?" Gabriella asked her Uncle, the one her parents named her after. Her Uncle smiled and nodded, placing a hand on her upper back to guide her out of the graveyard.
They arrived at her Uncle's apartment, her home for the past year.
After washing up, she sat on her bed, knees tucked against her, and stared aimlessly at the picture frame on her bedside. It was a picture of her parents on their wedding day.
She heard a knock on her door, followed by her Uncle walking in. "Hey there, Gabs, I have your dinner here. It would really be great if you ate some of it tonight." He set the plate on her desk before standing by the doorway.
"Thanks."
"Is there anything you want to talk about? Getting things off your chest is better than holding them in."
Gabriella lay down away from her Uncle and whispered, "I'm OK. I think I just need to go to sleep. Good night."
Gabriel sighed, "OK. Good night." Before he closed her door, he walked to the sofa and sat down.
"I have no idea what to do, Miguel. What would you have done?"
...
When Gabriela finally woke up and got ready, it was midday. She forced herself out of her room to at least eat something since she hadn't eaten her dinner last night.
"Hey Gabi, how'd you sleep?" her Uncle said from the living room sofa as he sipped his coffee and watched the news.
"Alright. I'll try to get better. I promise." Gabriella took a bite of an apple.
"Hey, don't worry. You have gone through a lot for just a 16-year-old. The only thing I want is for you to be able to try to live as normal of a teenage life as possible." He smiled at her, to which she returned a small smile. "Speaking of not-normal, the news says there is a disturbance by the Brooklyn bridge."
"Shoot!" Gabriella rushed to put on her suit. Before she jumped out, her Uncle yelled, "Please come back home safe!"
"Will do!" She shot her web out as she headed towards the bridge.
When she arrived, she saw people and cars trying to escape the scene as the vulture was creating havoc. But when she got closer, she noticed it wasn't 'her' vulture, which was hard to register in her mind.
The new vulture threw a car off the bridge with people in it. Luckily, Gabi shot a few of her webs out to save the car. Taking all her strength, she pulled the car back on the bridge. A man and a woman rushed out, and the woman went to the back to get something. When the door was closed, she saw it was a little girl. The sight made her heartache.
"Thank you so much Spider-Rose." The man said.
"Of course. Now, please get to a safe distance."
The man then guided his family away as Gabriela went to deal with this weird vulture.
"Hey! Why are you ruining everyone's day today? And it's a bright blue sky and sunny, too." Gabi dangled from her web in front of the vulture, who was freaking out while flying.
"Are you made of clay? Like, what are you?"
"Where am I? What is this place?"
"It's Nueva York?" Gabriela laughed as she swung about and tried to stop the vulture. But he got out of her strings.
"Nueva York? It's New York."
"I think you must have hit your head or something, man. Maybe you should take a chill pill." Gabriela chuckled as she tried again to obtain him. She failed again as he slammed her against the wall.
"You're starting to annoy me."  He pushed her more against the wall, which started to hurt her head.
A weird warping noise appeared in the air, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw a weird orange portal open.
A woman in a white and pink suit flew towards her. And did she see a web-shoot from the woman's wrist?
Within seconds, the vulture was thrown off her, knocked out, and captured.
"I didn't think that would be over so quick. This guy is a pretty weak vulture."
Gabriela stared at the woman in awe. The woman noticed as she walked over and offered her hand, "Hi, I'm Gwen."
Gabriela shook her hand. "Gabriela, but everyone calls me Gabi. You're like me."
Gwen chuckled, "This is your first time meeting another Spider-person?"
"I didn't know there were others like me."
"Oh, there is an infinite amount! It's so cool! We have an HQ and everything, and we go on missions to help save the multiverse."
"The multiverse? I thought it was only a theory."
"I haven't seen a spider like you before. You should totally join us." Gwen said as she opened a portal.
"Really?!" Gabriela's eyes widened in excitement as she smiled underneath her mask.
"Sure! I don't see any reason why not? It's weird going through the portal for the first time. But you'll get the gist of it."
As Gwen said, going through the portal was nauseating, but the feeling disappeared as soon as she saw the beauty of Spider HQ.
Everywhere she looked, there were Spider-people. Knowing she wasn't alone brought tears to her eyes.
An older Spiderwoman in a black and red suit walked up to you and Gwen, not happy.
"Girl, You're in big trouble. Recruiting someone? You don't have the authority to do that." The woman scolded Gwen.
"H-how did... this just happen," Gwen asked, astonished that Jess already knew.
"it was Lyla. You're wanted at his office. Both of you. The name's Jess, by the way. It's nice to see another spider woman, even though it wasn't done through proper protocol." Jess glanced at Gwen, who had taken her mask off.
Gabriella decided to keep it on while trying to dry her tears.
"I know it wasn't done the right way. But she has amazing talent! She has to join! Plus, I know you will be on board once you see her skills!" Defended Gwen.
"Well, since you didn't follow protocol, it's not up to me to decide anymore."
Gabriela couldn't contain her excitement as they walked through HQ. She really hoped she could join, and she thought being here could help heal her pain.
They entered a large office filled with projects. Her eyes turned toward an orange glow. A series of computer screens hovered over a large desk where a very large man stood.
The lenses in Gabriella's mask widen when the man turns around.
She thought she was going to burst into tears. It was her father. But a younger version.
"Gwen." He said with a stern voice.
"I know I'm sorry. But my gut was telling me to bring her here."
"You know the rules. I expect you to follow them." The man who looked like her father walked closer.
He really did look like him. Except his eyes were red. He was definitely younger, maybe in his late 20s or early 30s. He was larger than her father, which was shocking as he was already a large man. It must have been from the Spider's DNA.
"She shouldn't be here." He looked towards her, her father staring at her like she was a stranger, which she had to remember that she was.
"Miguel, honey. They're just kids. And everyone makes mistakes. So give them a break."
Gabriella breath hitched when she heard your voice.
It was her mom. It was really you. She hadn't seen you in years. All she wanted to do was run into your arms, but she knew you weren't 'her.'
The woman walks over to Miguel, whose face turns to a loving smile as she wraps around her waist.
"Alright, mi amor. I will."
Gabriella smiled. They were married in this universe, too. Maybe they had a version of her back home that they adored and loved.
Gabriella's breath became uncontrollable as she couldn't handle seeing them anymore.
"I-I'm sorry." She rushes out of the room and goes somewhere where she can be alone to cry.
Little did she know that in you and Miguel's worlds, you had lost your Gabriella. Before joining Spider Society, you were a single mother from a one-night stand. It was your world's Miguel, but he was an asshole. So when you met Miguel at Spider HQ, you assumed he would be the same. Of course, you were very much mistaken as you got to know him. He was only sad after he had lost his version of Gabriella when the world collapsed. Your world collapsed, too, so you live full-time in Miguel's world with him. Of course, now married. But your Gabriella had died long before from an outbreak of a virus.
You gave Miguel a stern look, thinking he had upset the young Spider. But you, being the mother you used to be, ran after her.
Gabriella sat in a corner of the dining hall so that very few others could watch her cry. Maybe she shouldn't be here. Seeing her parents' faces and not being able to run up and hug them would be too much.
"Hey"
Gabriella's head shot up when she heard your voice. You sat right next to her and placed your hand on her back to console her.
"I'm sorry if my husband was rude. He means well but sometimes doesn't show it in the best way."
"No, it's OK. It wasn't that...I saw something that brought up some sensitive memories of my past."
"You know, sometimes it's good to talk things out instead of keeping them locked in. It always helped me," you smile at her.
Gabriella's heart ached from those words. Something her mother would say to her. "It's pretty weird..."
"Trust me. I've seen some pretty weird things." You chuckle, remembering the time you had a mission with the Spider T-Rex.
Gabriella exhaled a shaky breath as she took her mask and lifted it off her face. Her brown eyes took a long pause before looking at you. Your eyes were wide as your gut dropped, and your heart lifted as you placed a shaky hand on her cheek.
"Gabriella? I-I've never seen a version of you as a Spider. I-I've rarely seen another version of you at all. You're older than my Gabi." You pull her into a hug. Gabriella couldn't resist as she wrapped her arms around you, tears streaking down her face.
"I never thought I would see my daughter grown up. She was so young when she died."
You smiled as you looked at your 'daughter.' "
After all these years, I never thought I would see your smiling face again."
"I didn't think so either about you."
Her words made your brows furrow.
"Both my parents are dead. My mother died from a relapse of cancer when I was 8, and my father died last year from saving me from an explosion at his job." Gabriella bit her tongue as she tried her best to hold back her tears as that aching pain began to throb in her heart.
You held her in your arms longer than you realized as you heard large footsteps walking towards you before coming to a sudden halt. You looked up with a happy smile as you saw your husband's shocked face.
"Miguel, our baby girl, came back to us."
Miguel took a few steps forward, not believing who was before him. He fell to his knees before Gabriella, and she couldn't help but wrap her arms around him as she cried louder. Miguel wrapped his arms around her as he combed the back of her hair to calm her down. You go on your knees as you hug her, too, again.
Gabriella cried out loud, as did you and Miguel, not caring what scene they were causing. Miguel kissed the top of your head and Gabriella's as he smiled down at his family, once all broken but now brought together through the mysterious wonders of the multiverse.
"I've missed you both so much. I felt so alone without you."
You and Miguel exchanged a look as if you were communicating with your minds as you smiled at your daughter.
"I know we aren't your parents. But if you wanted, we would love to spend time with you." You wiped away her tears with your thumb.
"Does that mean I'm in?" Gabriella looked at you and Miguel with joy and excitement in her brown eyes.
" Of course." Miguel smiled at her.
" I know I'm not your daughter-"
"Gabi, no matter what universe you're from. You will always be our daughter."
Your words melted away Gabriella's walls and warmed her heart as tears threatened to spill again as she hugged you and Miguel.
...
A month later
"I can't believe in another universe you also tripped into the pond in Central Park on your guys' first date. That was always a funny story my mom would tell, embarrassing my father to high heavens." Gabriella laughed as she placed another dish on the dining room table.
Miguel chuckled as he finished plating the rest of the food from the pan. "What can I say? I was on a date with a beautiful woman and was a little nervous."
"A little? Really, honey? You're in front of family. You can admit you were a nervous wreck on our first date." You laughed, getting a playful glare from your husband in return.
"Ah, I remember my brother walking into our shared apartment drenched to the core after the date but still walking in through the door with a goofy grin." Gabriel laughed as he sat down next to his niece. Gabriella almost spit out her water by her Uncle's comment as she tried to hold in her laughter.
"Did that happen to you too?" She looked up at Miguel.
"Yeah, it did. I thought I had ruined the date, but when I got out, and Y/N kissed me and said she couldn't wait for our second date, I was over the moon happy." Miguel smiled as he looked at you, took your hand, and kissed your knuckles.
Gabriella smiled as she looked at her new family sitting around the table. She looked at her necklace, which now had a photo of her father on the other side of the locket. Gabriella's heart felt a warm sadness wash over her. She smiled to her self. She was finally healing.
As she looked up at the younger versions of her parents talking with happy smiles  across the table from her, she thought:
'Mom...Dad. Thank you for helping me find my way back to you.'

I hope you enjoyed this one-shot!💕

if you believe in me - 01

Miles hadn't texted you at all since the kiss, but not for lack of trying.
He would begin to type out a message:
"hi".
No, too empty. Perhaps a bit creepy.
Backspace.
"hey :)"
Would you expect him to use smiley faces? No, it felt too different to how he spoke in real life. Backspace.
Maybe he should rip a page out of his classmates' playbook. It always seemed to work for them when he peered over at their screens.
"wyd?"
He frowned at his phone in bewilderment. Why would he ask that all of a sudden with no context?
Backspace.
"Hey, Y/N! Just checking in to see how you're doing."
Miles mentally cursed himself when he realized how much the text sounded like an email.
He flopped down onto his bed in defeat, and checked his digital alarm clock. 7:30 pm. He had been sitting there for an entire half hour and could hardly get a greeting out, probably leaving you to wonder why the boy who had literally kissed you last week couldn’t be bothered to send a text.
Miles knew that today would be special when his phone alarm actually woke him up - and from a dreamless sleep, at that. Normally the sun would practically blind him after the curtains were thrown open by his mother, yelling frantically about how he was going to be late in half an hour. The sky was miraculously just turning a periwinkle blue outside, and the possibility of actually getting breakfast seemed within reach for once.
Miles squinted to read the menu above him. Ordering a spicy beef patty before 8 in the morning sounded like a poor dietary decision, so he went with a bacon egg and cheese sandwich like everyone else. As soon as he backed up from the counter, he made the mistake of glancing to his right at the fridge containing drinks on the other side of the bodega, and his stomach dropped.
Your jacket was instantly recognizable, even from a mile away.
Miles threw on his hoodie and shuffled over to the aisle behind him, where he pretended to be preoccupied with a container of instant coffee while trying to keep his face covered. When he saw movement in his periphery, he ducked his head and inched his way towards the freezer that contained his prized can of Arizona tea. He was about to reach for the handle, just inches away from success, when your voice stopped him:
“Morales?!? Where the hell have you been?”
Fuck.
“Hey,” Miles gave you a tight smile as he turned slowly to face you. “How…how are you?”
“I’m good,” you nodded, before lightly smacking him in the arm. “Haven’t heard from you in a minute, though. Why I ain’t catch you in class?”
The boy shrugged. “I dunno. Still in the same seat every day. Maybe you just missed me.”
As he said this, Miles recalled seeing you in the cafeteria while making his way upstairs  the other day and ducking behind a trash can before your eyes could meet. You having gone back to your regular seat in AP Calc made avoidance even easier; he could simply time when he went over to his seat, a small crowd of students providing ample cover.
“Chopped cheese!” a man called out from the front, interrupting his thoughts.
“That’s me,” you said with a grin.
“”Bacon egg and cheese!”
“And that’s me,” Miles replied as he spun around to retrieve his order, making sure to leave room for you to pass behind him after grabbing your sandwich.
Once outside, he realized that you were staring at him. Not just in passing, but expectantly. Was he meant to do something?
“What?” he asked, eyebrow raised.
“You like me, right?”
“I-um…yeah,” Miles’ eyes darted away from your face. “I don’t think I’d kiss anybody I didn’t like.”
“Don’t get smart with me, you didn’t text me at all afterwards. I was starting to get the wrong impression!”
He snorted, “Well, now you’ve got the right one.”
“Sooo…” you tilted your head. “Does that mean we’re like, a thing now?”
He tensed at the suggestion. ‘A thing’. You’d think it was obvious what that meant, but what did it really mean in tenth grade? Sit at home and kiss a lot?
But your smile began to falter the longer he took, and the sight stung him.
“I guess we are,” Miles finally replied. He looked down. “What are you doing?”
“Holding your hand, duh!”
He let you intertwine your fingers with his, tentatively squeezing them in return.

A/N: Gay pride is over. Time for gay wrath
Ford is bent over a newspaper at a booth at Greasy’s Diner, hand in his hair, pretending to be focused on the crossword. He taps his pen against the table. If he were actually paying attention he would be done with this “puzzle” in the time it takes to write the answers, but his mind is elsewhere. He picks up his coffee and sips at it tepidly, while the two truckers at the counter rattle off complaints about the state of the country around stacks of pancakes and smiley-face eggs and bacon. Every so often, words like “unbelievable” and “indecent” waft across the space. None of these are the words he needs.
5 across, four letters, unflattering rumors.
Mother. Jobs. School. Children.
5 across, four letters, unflattering rumors.
Right. Wrong. Trees. Fruits.
5 across, four letters, un…
Ford sees the waitress coming his way and flags her down. “Excuse me. Could I get…” A thought occurs to him that almost makes his mouth pull back in a guffaw. He taps his pen a little faster, reconsidering. “…do you have any banana cream pie?”
She doesn’t read the news. She takes the request at face value. “Sure thing! I’ll have it right out.” Hefting a stack of empty plates from another table, she saunters around the counter. Ford watches her leave without really watching her, head perched glumly in his hand. His mouth pulls taut again, and this time it’s in a thin, fleeting frown. The truck drivers are washing their breakfast down with a couple of glasses of orange juice. Ford fixates on the color, his mind beginning to wander as their conversation finally, finally fades to blissful background noise. He sips his coffee.
5 across…
He remembers when his father used to sit him down and explain certain universal truths about the nature of humanity. To watch out for people who would try to tell him lies. Ford had believed so wholeheartedly back then. And how easy it had been, how good it had felt, to be on the right side. The good side.
Maybe he should call his mother. Maybe there are things that she should know. Maybe if he explained them to her, and she explained them to Dad…
He closes the newspaper. On the front page is a picture that’s supposed to be indecent. Stanley would probably find it funny. Wouldn’t he? Ford thinks about writing in the margins with a Sharpie and looking up Stanley’s address and mailing the paper to him. “Look at this. Look what happened. Isn’t this just hysterical?” That was absurd, they hadn’t spoken in years, why would he send this to Stanley?
The corner of the newspaper is pinched between his fingers and he realizes they’re trembling. Too much coffee. He stows his hands in his lap and waits for his banana cream pie. Unfortunately, somehow, this brings the truckers’ conversation back into full focus, and God, they just will not shut up. Ford has a very active imagination. In his mind’s eye he shoots out of his chair and waves the newspaper around in a half-crazed tirade and starts shouting them down with logic and common sense. He does what he knows he will also do in the shower next week and gets into a full-blown argument with himself, acting out some imaginary scene where he plays all the parts. He tenses in his seat and his fingers curl against his thighs and—
A plate clatters onto the table next to his coffee.
“One slice of banana cream pie!” the waitress chirps. “Can I get anything else for ya?”
“Uh,” Ford says, blinking. “No. Um. No. Thank you.”
“Alright then, enjoy!” She smiles and walks away again. He picks up his fork and just stares at the thing, like he’s going to somehow consume it with his eyeballs. That’s an odd mental image.
It’s a very tasty-looking pie. The white cream on top looks light as a cloud, the crust is golden and crumbly. He can’t remember the last time he treated himself to something like this. Of course, one cannot have the thing and eat it too. He frowns, side-eying the truckers not for the first time. They’re laughing and nudging each other, maybe at someone else’s expense.
He gets up from the cushioned seat, plate in hand. He realizes his hand is still shaking. Too much coffee. Is he really about to do this? His feet move without his permission, one after the other, oh my god I’m actually doing this. He slips into the seat right next to the truckers, an odd smile on his lips. He leans over like one of them is about to tell a joke and he wants to hear it. The two of them stutter and eye him with mostly confusion. The plate lifts in Ford’s hand, heavy at first and then suddenly weightless as momentum builds. He pushes it into the nearest truck driver’s face, and it smears white chunks all over from his dark eyebrows down to his beard.
“Hey!” shouts the other one, shooting up from his seat and knocking the stool over in the process. Ford somehow can’t bring himself to care. He’s doubled over laughing, and he can’t stop, clutching his sides, giving himself stitches, practically suffocating. The first trucker, the one who got hit, is in shock, picking sugary bits of pie out of his beard, more confusion than confection smeared across his face.
Ford wakes from the daydream. He’s still seated at his booth, his pie still sitting neatly in front of him. The truckers are still blabbing on, although they’ve moved on from talk of the press conference. Maybe they did a long time ago. The moment passes. He doesn’t want to get banned from the diner is all.
Still, Stanley would have done it.
What an absurd thought to have. Stanley would never be here.
Ford stabs his fork into his pie and eats it, and to be fair, he does enjoy it very much, although maybe he would’ve enjoyed having it a little more.
A/N: I wrote this to work out some frustration I’ve been feeling lately with gay acceptance, which is better than it used to be but I still encounter people online comparing it to alcoholism which almost makes ME want to dive headfirst into alcoholism so
It was either this or smash mailboxes with a baseball bat

Hitman!Oscar being Lando’s girl comfort person. Probably because she doesn’t have lots of friends in general and they don’t see each other often. But then there’s Oscar that stays with her when Lando goes to deal with sth. First time he’s with her he starts cleaning his guns at the dining table and she hits him with a kitchen cloth telling him he’s out of his fucking mind if he thinks he’s gonna clean the weapons on the table. Second time she’s distressed because Lando had to go out in a hurry so she just clings to him (then when Lando seems jealous she screams at him n tells him if he’s gonna leave her w Oscar he’s gotta get used to it). Oscar is just a third wheel but even Lando warms to him being the third one in his relationship haha
i really love this ola 🥺 im gonna brainrot ab this and try to get in a writing mood. added read more bc kinda long
oscar definitely regularly cleans his guns at his dining table and does not understand why she is chastising him for it!!
imagine lando asking oscar to protect her for the first time, to stay with her when he goes to do something. oscar’s literally a hitman, and tells him such; he kills people, he’s not a security service. lando convinces him to do it the one time, saying if anyone tries to harm her they are his target and he gets to kill. he gives in and lando introduces them, and tells her oscar is now her personal bodyguard. oscar tries to be like, “hey this is a one time thing, i’m doing you a favor while you go out of town.” because he fully intends on getting back to business, but lando just leaves before he can get the words out.
he's staying with her in a secret apartment lando owns, a safe house of sorts, for the weekend, while lando goes out of town. it’s weird for oscar because he’s used to being paid to kill people, follows and watches his targets for days until he has the perfect opportunity to get the job done. she thinks he’s a little weird because he just sits and watches her, and when she asks why he’s staring he’s like, “lando told me to watch you. that is what i am doing.”
she starts making dinner to distract herself from oscar’s staring, and he follows her to the kitchen and starts cleaning his gun. she’s making pasta, and keeps her back to him so she doesn’t accidentally make eye contact with him. the layout of the kitchen makes it easy for her to avoid looking at him until she’s plated the food. she nearly drops the plates when she turns and finds a dismantled pistol on the table. the plates clatter as she sets them back down on the counter, tugging the kitchen towel off her shoulder as she approaches him. he looked up from what he was doing as the plates hit the counter, giving her a questioning look as she stormed over. then she was hitting him over the head with the towel and telling him to put it back together and never do it again. he puts it back together and they eat dinner, he’s surprised she made him a plate and she’s deeply offended that he’s surprised. like, “you thought i would just let you starve?” and more offended when he doesn’t tell her how good it is bc she really enjoys it but he looks so bored.
he sits and watches while she sleeps, nods off in the chair a few times but wakes up when he hears anything, her rustling in bed, mumbling in her sleep, a car in the parking lot. he’s awake when she wakes up and she tries to make him lay down and sleep because he needs sleep, but he ignores her and just follows her out of the bedroom and to the kitchen. she makes him coffee and breakfast and he’s once again surprised when she sets a mug in front of him and asks if he wants cream or sugar. he doesn’t. she’d ask him what he wants for breakfast and he doesn’t have an answer so she makes a bit of everything, bacon, eggs, toast, and pancakes. she makes a smiley face out of whipped cream on his pancakes and he’s never once had that before so it confuses him.
she gets some reprieve from him after breakfast when she showers, but then he’s back to watching her when she gets out and goes to watch netflix in the living room. she tries getting his input on what to watch, but he tells her he doesn’t watch tv. she puts on her favorite show, season one episode one, and decides she’s going to make him like it. she knows he’s paying attention to her, and not the show, so she tells him everything thats happening and all her opinions on it. he finds himself enjoying it, occasionally glancing at the tv to actually see what’s going on, but he prefers watching her to the actors and actresses on screen. she ends up enjoying oscar’s company, aside from the gun dismantling on her dining table and constant watching, she likes him. she gets him to crack a few smiles. he tells her he likes the dinner she makes saturday, and the coffee sunday morning. he’s nice if she lets herself forget he’s a hitman.
it’s the first semi-normal weekend oscar has ever lived. he’s never sat around and watched tv or had breakfast lunch and dinner. it’s not the life he’s led. he hates lando a little bit when he returns sunday and dismisses oscar with proof of a wire transfer.
she finds herself missing oscar after he’s gone, and is hoping she’ll see him again. it happens, but not in a way she likes. one night lando wakes her up and hurriedly tells her oscar’s staying with her because he has to run out. they’re at home, not the safe house, this time. she doesn’t even understand what he’s saying, still half asleep when he rushes out of the room after kissing her forehead goodbye. she’s confused, scared, and worried about lando as she sits up and tries to get her bearings. she rubs her eyes and opens them to see oscar’s just standing at the foot of the bed, watching her. she’s weirdly calmed that he’s there, her racing heart slowing a bit as she stares at him. she needs someone to hold her so she doesn’t spiral. she hopes it isn’t showing.
she knows he’s likely planning to stay in that exact spot until lando returns, so tells him to lay down with her. he declines, saying he’s fine where he is, but she crawls to the edge and pleads, “i won’t be able to go back to sleep without someone next to me. please?” he gives in after a moment and starts climbing onto the bed but she presses a hand to his chest and tells him he’s not getting in bed with shoes on. truthfully, she wants to fetch him a pair of lando’s jammies and make him change into them but she knows he won’t, so she lets him stay in his own clothes. he tries to lay as far away from her as possible, laying on his side on the edge of the mattress, but she lays in the middle and pats the spot next to her, “i said next to me, didn’t i?” oscar’s never cuddled before, and he hesitates before he scoots over and awkwardly lays on his back next to her. she cuddles up next to him immediately lifting his arm and wrapping it around her as she presses her face into his chest. he wants to tell her lando will kill him if he finds them like this, but he plans on slipping away as soon as she’s asleep. he doesn’t mean to fall asleep with her, to cuddle into her and slip under the covers with her.
lando’s pissed when he finds them, would kill oscar if it wouldn’t traumatize his love, instead yanks the man out of his bed. it wakes the both of them, and she sits up and grabs lando before he can get his hands on oscar again. “you left me. you left me alone. you do not get to be angry. if you are going to scare me like that, he is going to comfort me.” and oscar’s super confused, laying on the floor with a now aching back from the impact. he was sleeping so well, he felt like he was in a cocoon of warmth, and the confusion turns to anger as he realizes his sleep was interrupted. lando just stares at them, wondering what comfort me means and if he comforted her in the safe house.

I love your platonic hcs with five!! Can you make more please?:33
Yandere!Five/Reader [platonic/hcs]
tw: very soft yan!dad!five, reader described as child here, mentions of Five/Dolores romantic relationship, brief mentions of Five's past trauma, hints on eating disorders, overprotective behavior word count: ~900. a/n: Thank you for your request, Anon. It was good to write something about my old interest after quite a break. I made this is mostly based on information I had read months ago from some book. Tiny sequel for this.
Kinda sad that tua fics aren't as popular as before and slowly dying.
Let's ignore the ending and other moments we shouldn't talk and pretend like...everything ended well for the Hargreeves family! All the siblings mostly live separately from each other, but they still care for one another and meet on birthdays and other holidays.
Five meets a young, pretty lady during one of his undercover missions, and after that «love at first sight» trope, their relationship grows strong, leading to Five finally abandoning his job as an agent (honestly, good for him).
I really like the idea of Five having a quiet, peaceful life somewhere far away with his family. His wife is a popular fashion model and earns enough money for the family, while Five is the one who stays at the house, keeping you safe and raising the way he wished he was.
Five is scared to repeat the past mistakes his family members made; that's why I see him being extra overprotective with you. He wants to give you everything he never had in his childhood, and it often leads to you growing into some spoiled brat.
I can see him pausing for a moment and having that «wait...WHAT?» look when you reply with a sassy remark, and that's the moment he sees that you're basically becoming the tiny version of his young self. Part of him is proud, he knows that you will be able to stand up for yourself in the future, but the other part...he's not really happy to deal with someone who uses his own methods against him, as we can tell from the show (points at the other versions of Five).
Five is that parent who wakes up early in the morning to prepare breakfast for you. He has a sweet tooth, but he avoids giving you too much sugar, like I mentioned before. By the moment you wake up, you see a plate of eggs and bacon carefully formed into a smiley face with a glass of juice next to it.
I see Five spending a lot of time reading about parenting. He is well-educated enough in many fields, but it's just something he likes to do when he is free from house chores. Sitting in the chair with glasses on and a warm blanket laid on his lap, it's a heartwarming sight. Dolores will return from work later this day, only to see her husband having a nap in their little library and their child eeping next to him.
Five is especially careful with the food he prepares for you. After decades of loneliness in the apocalypse, he had few food choices. Every day felt like a constant survival, and the idea of you experiencing the same at such a young age terrifies him. He unconsciously gives you a little too much food, constantly asking “you need more?” just to make sure you're well-fed. Five might pay less attention to himself, but you're getting the best meal ever.
Five gives me the idea of that dad who will hold you close next to him 24/7. Yandere Five just can't bear the idea of you being somewhere away from home for more than an hour. There's a deep conflict in his heart, and his wife always tells him that it's fine. You're growing up, it's natural for you to try and separate from your parents, but this bothers him to insanity.
There's no more apocalypse, no more The Commission; the world is quiet now; there's no need for him to worry about. He never argues with you about it, the moment you leave your home to meet with a friend, your phone will cry from constant messages like “are you okay?”, “where are you now?”, “when will you go back?”. He needs to know it in case, well...just something happens, he's responsible adult, after all.
For most parents, Five seems like the ideal father figure, but he gets a little overbearing sometimes. When you snap at him, giving something like “just leave me alone!”, he would get quiet immediately. It is a significant difference between him now and in the past.
Usually he never lets people to dismiss him like that, he would have dragged you back and lectured you about disrespecting him, but now he's just sad. He will let you cool down, just to think what he has done wrong.
Five loves spending time with you, mainly because he never had the chance to spend some time with his own family. There were missions, there were trainings, there were constant fighting, etc., and after his retirement he plans to give his full attention to you. He knows a lot, from how to solve some difficult equations under 15 minutes to how to kill a person with a pencil, but it's not the same when the person whom you trust the most teacher you everything.
Reginald never bothered to spend a simple father and son moments, how to be a man and deal with various situations in his life, that's why he wants to teach you of something simple. He knows it's not as impressive, but it's quality time that matters.

~*~*~
You wake up to the smell of bacon.
Yawning wide, you turn your head to Carlos' side of the bed, a little confused to find it empty. Running a hand across the sheets, you're even more surprised to find them cold.
Reaching out to your plugged in phone on the bedside table, you squint as it lights up. Okay, not too early. But, wait, your daughter usually starts crying before now.
Bolting up, your feet are almost on the carpet before your muddled brain slots the puzzle pieces together. Carlos' side of the bed is cold. Maybe he heard her before you did and calmed her so she didn't wake you up.
Why didn't he come back?
Rubbing a hand across your face, the decision to check or not is made for you. You hear Carlos saying something a moment before he opens the door, a plate of food in each hand.
"She's not going to believe how you helped with breakfast this morning."
And your daughter swaddled across his chest, who kicks her feet and giggles when she spots you.
"Hey, what are you doing awake?" Crossing the bedroom, he sets a plate full of bacon on the bedside table and uses his now free hand to swat at your thighs. "Get back in bed."
"What?" you ask, brain still muddled, tucking your feet back under the blankets.
"Our little girl here decided she wanted to make you breakfast in bed this morning." When you're leaning comfortably against the pillows, he sets the other plate onto your lap. Sunny side up eggs with toast greets your eyes, and your tummy grumbles a moment later.
Your little girl gurgles, arms doing a little wave.
Producing a fork, Carlos hands it to you before looking down to your girl. "Right. We have more dishes for you. Want pancakes next? Fruit? Bagel?"
At the mention of the bagel, your little one babbles.
"I agree, bagel sounds good." Making his way back to the kitchen, he throws over his shoulder, "I'll make sure it has cream cheese on it."
Blinking in surprise, you give yourself a moment to process before picking up a piece of bread and dipping it into the egg. You're only three bites in before Carlos returns with more plates, and it's not until the bed is almost full with all the dishes you own that Carlos leans against the wall opposite you, holding a strawberry shaped teether for your daughter to chew.
"What did I do?" you ask, setting aside an empty plate to pick up another. "To deserve all this, I mean?"
"Aside from popping this one out into the world?" He does a little shake, prompting your girl to kick her feet and giggle. "Maybe I just wanted to pamper my queen, ever think of that?"
You give him a curious look but keep eating until your stomach is full to bursting. When you go to get up to put the dishes up, Carlos swats your legs and hustles everything out, baby giving her commentary the entire time.
Still wondering if maybe there's a catch, you watch as Carlos unswaddles your girl and slides into his spot next to you, setting your daughter on her belly on his chest.
You slide up against his side, your hand resting against your girl's back. Her sleepy eyes drift to you, a small smile turning up her chubby cheeks.
"She's had a full morning helping me out in the kitchen." Carlos' voice rumbles through his chest, making her yawn and close her eyes. "She told me exactly how you like your pancakes."
"Did she now?"
"She did. Was very particular about it. If I made a mistake, I'd get an earful." Pressing a kiss to the crown of your head, he adds, "Just like someone else I know."
"Oh, so it's my fault?"
"Yeah. I mean, genetics and all, right?"
"And what did she get from you, big guy?"
"My superior sense of humor."
Smiling wide, you slot your head between Carlos' shoulder and collarbone. From this angle, you can see your girl passed out, drool dribbling from her open mouth and onto your husband's shirt. Rubbing your thumb absentmindedly up and down her back, you ask Carlos, "So what's the plan now?"
"I dunno, I didn't think that far." A pause. "A nap?"
"A nap sounds good."
Squeezing you in a one armed hug, you hear Carlos hum in agreement. "Nap it is, then."

Quidditch is a superstitious sport
And James Fleamont Potter is the most superstitious of them all
he always puts his right sock on before his left and his right shoe before his left (he hates when he “gets off on the wrong foot” with people so he always starts with the right foot)
he closes his eyes and traces the golden snitch tattoo on his hipbone with the tip of his wand
he eats two eggs and two pieces of bacon on toast for breakfast but they have to be shaped like a smiley face (just as Effie made them when he was little)
the night before a match he listens to Money, Money, Money by ABBA as he gets ready for bed which is the first muggle song he ever listened to (courtesy of the girls)
when he asked Regulus (or Lily or both depending on your ship) to be his boyfriend for the first time, it was the morning before a quidditch match and during that game, he made the best play of his life so now he will re-ask Regulus to be his boyfriend before every quidditch game.
(Regulus likes to roll his eyes and say "yes you dumbass" every time it happens but he's squealing and kicking his feet on the inside)
BUT one time, years after Hogwarts, before the grand final match of the season (professional quidditch player James au), instead of asking Regulus to be his boyfriend he asked him to marry him (Reggie said yes and James’ team won the whole tournament)
feel free to add more :)

WRAPPED AROUND YOUR FINGER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
part 3
series masterlist | gif credit | previous chapter | next chapter
tags!!!! mostly fluffy, family breakfast time! (reader gets smiley face pancakes from lottie bc i SAID SO), lottie asks u a somewhat life changing question…
i’m sorry this took a while and is so short! chapter 4 will be better i promise 🤕
Tumblr media
yawning, you stretched and rubbed your eyes. lottie had left your side obviously, the left side of your bed still smelling like her. your clock read 9:34, you never expected yourself to be up this early.
the events of what happened last night made you groan in embarrassment.
the feeling of her lips against her skin. her hands, her fingers slipping inside, making you gasp, closing your eyes in pleasure-
a knock at your door brung you out of your thoughts, hearing your mother’s voice outside. “are you up?”
“..yeah?”
“come down, i made breakfast.” the sound of her footsteps fade away as you got out of bed, not even bothering to brush your teeth. the stairs creaked as you walked down, hearing the local news playing quietly on the tv and your mother’s and lottie’s voice in the kitchen.
“there you are, finally! lottie made pancakes!” taissa smiled, opening the fridge and pulling out a carton of orange juice. she brought the two of you glasses and sat down, offering you a seat next to you. you sat down in the dining chair, lottie putting two plates in front of you. one had scrambled eggs, and two strips of bacon, and the other, two stacked pancakes with cut strawberries around the edges, and chocolate chips forming a smiley face.
“i made them extra special for you.” she pet your head, a big smile across her face. when she turned her back to go sit with you and your mother, you furrowed your eyebrows. the same woman that seduced you last night just made you.. smiley face pancakes.
you shrugged it off and poured your syrup, and digging in. “wow, lottie,” you chewed, talking with your mouth full of the fluffy hotcake. “you made these?”
“my own recipe.” she nodded, pre-cutting her breakfast. she watched as you indulged, smiling sweetly at the puddle of syrup on your plate. “y’know tai, i was thinking of taking y/n back with me for a while. i really want him to see the sights.”
you looked up from your plate.
being in new york?
with lottie?
it almost made you choke.
“well, for how long?”
“just next weekend. i was thinking we leave on friday, come back on sunday.”
“that’s fine for me, i don’t know about y/n, though.” she pointed her fork at you, making lottie to you. her eyes widened a bit, waiting for your answer. “uhh, sure, lottie. sounds really fun.” you smiled with no teeth, mouth still full of pancake.
“then it’s settled! oh, you’re going to love it over there, y/n!” she clapped. “i’m driving back home in a little, but i will pick you up on friday.” she reached over to grab your hand. her joy was contagious over this trip, you and your mother smiling as well. you would’ve never thought your first new york trip, even your first trip out of state, would be with your mom’s best friend.
*****
next friday came quicker than you thought. you had finally finished packing your bags around 12 pm, putting your toothbrush and toothpaste in a ziploc bag. “lottie’s outside.” taissa knocked on your open door, handing you a tupperware container.
“what’s this?”
“just some snacks for the two of you. y’know for the ride there. some apple slices and baby carrots.” you gave her an uneasy smile, thinking in your head about all the junk food you and lottie were gonna get at some random convenience store on the way there.. “thanks… mom.”
“you’re gonna have so much fun, sweetheart! be careful, okay?” she hugged you tightly, kissing your forehead. “you have everything?”
you nodded and smiled, grabbing your suitcase. “i’m fine, mom,” you chuckled, walking downstairs, filling your water jug with ice and grabbing an extra bottle of water from the fridge. you said your final goodbyes, opening the front door to see lottie in the driver's seat, reaching in the back. you guessed she was trying to make room for your suitcase. “you ready?” her voice was higher, smiling as soon as she saw you.
“you can put your suitcase back here, babe.”
BABE? this woman was about to kill you and you haven’t even step foot in her car yet.
“okay!” your voice cracked, opening the back door of the SUV, laying your luggage on its side. you got in the passenger next to her, buckling your seatbelt and waving to your mother, who was standing just outside your front door. lottie exhaled as she put the car in drive.
“well.. albany, here we come.”

Sequel to There’s Only One Bed Part 3
Tumblr media
Masterlist
You can read the first half right here!
Part 1 Part 2
Part 3 will include the same boys as before which are Hyrule, Four and Sky!
Content under the cut!
Hyrule
Hyrule actually fell asleep much faster than he anticipated that he would.
Between the soft rhythm of your breathing and the warm of two living bodies next to each other, Hyrule has never felt as secure as he did in that moment. There was never a time where he could pin point feeling safe and loved enough where his eyes hit the pillow and he was out cold.
It was as if someone hit the light switch and he was unconscious.
Not to mention he hadn’t even woke up once the entire night. He closed his eyes in the dark of the room and when he opened them again it was daytime.
And you were gone.
Seeing as Hyrule isn’t used to sleeping as deeply as he had, it takes him a while to come back to speed.
Something is telling him that there’s something wrong. Something is missing. But he can’t figure it out.
He came in the night prior. Tired and he fell asleep in the bed. Was there someone else there? Was it you? Or did he dream you up? It was very likely that he dreamed you up. Why would you want to sleep next to him?
It hurts his heart a little bit that he fooled himself that way, but it was a very nice dream.
“Are you awake yet, sleepy head?” He hears you knock gently on the door as you open it.
He sits up and ruffles his hair for no good reason. It is to make it look better? Get rid of the bed head? Make it seem neat? It accomplishes none of those things. He slaps himself wake up a bit more and shakes his head. “I’m up.”
You see the last bit of his drama and snort. “I brought you breakfast!”
Hyrule smiles. “Thank you.”
He throws his legs over the bed and pulls at his shirt nervous, hoping that it only looks that he’s adjusting it. “I could have gotten it myself. You didn’t have to go through all that trouble.”
“If I didn’t then no one would have saved you anything. Twilight and Wind are eating their weight in pancakes and Wild only just sat down to eat his own food so he’s no longer cooking anything.” You say kindly and sit n the bed next to him. “Here.”
You hold out the plate to him and Hyrule can’t help the blush that spread across his cheeks. It’s a small tower of four pancakes with scrambled eggs, some potato patty and a few pieces of bacon. There’s a little bit of butter on the side with syrup that was once poured into the relative shape of a smiley face on top.
It’s cute.
Hyrule smiles back and begins to cut into the food. It’s soft and fluffy and perfect. If only every morning could be like this, Hyrule would begin to understand what Time meant by basic happiness.
“You talk in your sleep.”
Hyrule almost chokes on his food. His head snaps to you with lightning speed. It’s a similar scene to the night before but Hyrule can’t bring himself to fully remember the experience.
You smile shyly and pump your legs as they hang off of the bed. “Nothing to bad. It was funny.”
Hyrule bits his lip and can feel the shame creep up his back. “Oh on courage what did I say?”
You giggle enough to snort. You cover your mouth with your hand, clearly delighted by whatever he had said in his sleep.
He gets no answer.
Four
Four woke up peacefully.
It wasn’t necessarily out of normality for him but it also wasn’t common place. He likes it and snuggles back into the pillow by his face.
It takes him a while to be aware of his surroundings once more. His brain is defrosting at a slower rate than usual. Four notes that it must be a very uneventful morning for no one to want his attention just yet.
The bed shifts closer than he anticipates and he blinks his eyes wearily to the sleeping form next to him
Oh. It’s just you... Four closes his eyes again, willing for more time to pass so that he can wake up more. That’s right, he thinks. You spent the night in the same room. There’s only one bed. You were tired and sleepy and still sleeping.
Good. It’s good that you both get to sleep in today. Four thinks that it’s a start of a good day then
He yawns and stretches, letting his eyes blink open. Four lets his body be laid out flat and tries his best to not touch you, just in case it might wake you up in the process. Four stretches his arms over his head as well, letting his palms touch the head board and feels a few joints on his back pop when he takes a deep breath.
It feels good.
He rolls over slightly, not wiling to disturb you in the slightest.
Four is still tired himself and is unwilling to get out of the bed just yet. So he tries to memorize this moment the best he can.
You’re just as cute asleep as you are awake. Four smiles, reaching over to poke your cheek gently before running the same hand over your hair, moving it aside before it can get in your face. Your hair is also softer than he realized. He’s taken aback by the feel of it.
He pinches it softly, letting it run through his finger tips as he pulls back.
He breathes. If only all his mornings could be like this. No places to be first thing. No one ushering to move faster. You still sleeping peacefully next to him. Neither of you have a care in the world and there’s no threat to it either.
It’d be a quiet life if Four got it is way, but he finds that the thought doesn’t bother him as he thinks someone of the other boys would think.
You make a small noise in your sleep and Four has to bite his lip to keep from grinning to widely. He doesn’t want to laugh, even if you won’t know it. Feels wrong. Although it was very sweet.
You also take a deep breath and Four shuts his eyes just in time to miss yours blink open.
Four pretends to be asleep a little while longer and even adjusts his position a bit so that he can be more comfortable.
You yawn just over his head and shake his shoulder. “...Link... Wake up. Time to eat.”
Four mimics your breath and blinks up at you. “Yeah?”
You smile. “Mhm... Come on.” You yawn again. “Breakfast time.”
Four nod and pushes himself up, trying to aim his legs to where he dropped his shoes the night before. “Alright. Time for food.”
It seems that you also need a moment to defrost before going anywhere. Four looks over his shoulder, hoping to keep the look of adoration on his face to a minimal. You’re so cute.
Four coughs a bit, standing up. It seems that you need a little more time to get ready to head to the lounge. That’s ok. Four can wait. Then you can have breakfast together too.
Sky
Sky wakes up unceremonially. Something had hit him on the head.
He blinks his eyes open and takes in a deep breath. There’s no reason to be in any hurry after all.
“Link- for all that is good and holy- get off of me please.” You grit out from underneath him.
Sky frowns and looks down to you. Your hands are on his shoulders, trying to push him off with as much might as you can in the morning. He tilts his head, effortlessly lifting himself off of the bed and consequently off of you. His brain takes a little more time to catch up though.
“Good morning.” He yawns away from you to save you from his morning breath. He closes his eyes again to scratch his head and mess up his hair a bit more. Knowing that you want him to move, he rolls over.
Right onto the floor.
That wakes him up and leave shim looking around once more.
That’s right. He was tired yesterday and so were you. You pulled him into the room and made the two of your share the bed. Sky rubs his eyes this time, taking in his surroundings for the first time since you both arrived here.
“I’m sorry to hit you but you didn’t want to let go.” You say, getting off of the bed as quick as you can. You fall over in the process but stand up quickly. “Ignoring how my legs are asleep- I really need to pee. Good morning by the way!”
You run out of the room.
Sky is still trying to catch up. He doesn’t even register just how much of his body weight you were subjected to. He yawns again and stretches his hands over his head.
Well, it’s not the worst way to wake up, he supposes. Zelda certainly had to take drastic measure to make sure he would wake up on time. Sky can’t even find it in himself to be mad.
He stands up finally and moves to the bed. He’s still tired. How much sleep did he actually get last night? He doesn’t remember waking up at all so he can assume he slept the whole night through but he’s still tired.
He flops back onto the bed, making sure to hit the pillow with his face while he’s at it.
He spent the night with you, Sky realizes belatedly. And he didn’t even give the mercy of not being crushed. He knows he’s not exactly the lightest guy of the group and he knows he can throw his weight around.
And he was all dead weight.
Part of him wants to feel bad about it but he’s too busy falling asleep again now that he’s back on the bed.
“Skkkyyy!” You groan after opening the door again. “When the others said you would be hard to wake up, I knew they weren’t joking but this is ridiculous!”
Sky only hums in response, too lazy and too tired to lift his head and respond to you properly.
He can hear you huff and puff, no doubt trying to think of something to get him to move and be a functional human for the day. You come over and shake his shoulder roughly. It does the trick to wake Sky up a bit more but now he’s going to be stubborn.
“SKKYY!!” You groan louder.
Sky only hums back in response again.
“Wake uuppp!!” You audibly pout. “Don’t you want to go get breakfast.”
“Mmmm.”
“With me?”
“...Mmmmm..”
“Please?”
“...”
“...”
Sky sighs and finally pushes himself off of the bed. He points a finger in your face, just shy of missing your nose. “Only because you asked nicely.”
At least you seem happy that he’s not spending the day in the bed- no matter much he wants to.

Word Count: 2,479 a/n: Anything written in italics is spoken in english, anything written in bold and italics is what Evie is thinking. Warnings: swearing, talks of anxiety and throwing up
November, 2019
Evie wakes up to her alarm at three in the morning and she sighs heavily. She stretches and dismisses her alarm in the same swift motion and then she gets up to start her day. She first heads to her kitchen, petting her dogs as she passes by them. She rubs the back of her head awkwardly as she grabs one of her premade breakfast meals out of the freezer. It’s a homemade ham, bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich that she made the night before, she pops it in the microwave. While it heats up she grabs a container of peach yogurt and some white chocolate granola to put inside it. She snacks on the yogurt while going over the plan for the day in her head. She needs to shower, walk her dogs, talk to her management, then go about her normal training. It’s going to be a very long day…
She’s brought back to reality when she hears her microwave beep, she grabs her food and goes and sits on her couch tucking her legs under her as she does. She rubs her temples before she eats her food kind of quickly and then she gathers herself to go shower, playing music as she does. During her shower she makes sure to wash her face and brush her teeth. She wraps herself in her robe before she walks back to her room and quickly heads to her closet. She grabs a pair of black leggings and a white cami. After she gets her clothes on she grabs her favorite oversized hoodie that is near her bag and slips on her sneakers.
“Luna, Aurora, it’s time for your walk before I go to training, my loves.” Evie calls to her dogs and they instantly run to her side with their leashes in their mouths.
Evie smiles down at them and clips their leashes to their collars and puts on their booties before they head out, she also slips on her face mask. Evie ends up walking her dogs for about twenty minutes, replaying bits of last night in her mind. She feels like a burden and lets out a stressed sigh before letting her dogs back into her apartment and hanging their leashes back up on the wall.
“You guys behave now, ya? I don’t want a single message from my roommate that you guys didn’t listen. It’ll be a longer day today so I won’t be able to see ya til tonight.” Evie says to her two dogs before kissing them both on their heads.
She grabs her bag from her room before rushing out the door, she’s late now because she lost track of time during the walk. She quickly pulls her baseball cap onto her head and slips her face mask back on before bolting out the door to catch her ride. Her manager told her they had to talk to her and those words haunted her the entire time she tried sleeping. What could they need from her? Surely she isn’t in any trouble right?
Yesterday’s training was really hard for Evie and she’s remembering every mistake she made and she wonders if it was because of that. Maybe they are cutting me from the family? Maybe I’ll never debut after all. She thought to herself tears threatening to form and she quickly stops that line of thinking and pops her earbuds in and listens to her music to calm her mind. She laid her head on the window and zones out as her mind races as to what management could want from her.
She shakes her head and comes back to reality again when she notices her phone is going off. It’s her brother and she instantly answers.
Evie is all smiles as she answers the facetime call. “Huddy! Hi! How’d you know I was up?”
“I didn’t, I have some amazing news for you though and that’s why I called you at this hour.” Hudson, Evie’s older brother, is equally as smiley as she is, if not more.
“Well, out with it!”
“You’re going to be an Auntie!” Hudson nearly shouts as he waves a positive pregnancy test at the camera.
“I’m glad!” Evie says with a beaming smile. “Unfortunately I’ve got to go, we made it to the building.”
“Awe, well, call me when you can ya?” Hudson says with a slight frown. “You’ve been extra busy the past few days.”
“Yes of course I’ll call ya. Don’t forget to eat brekky and to take care of yourself. I’ve got things to tell you later. I love ya Huds.”
“I love you too, Evs.” he replies before hanging up.
Talking to her brother seemed to bring up Evie’s mood a lot and she thanks her driver before she heads to the practice room. Blinking a lot to get her eyes used to the bright lights of the room. By now it is nearly  five in the morning, usually she’d be here by now or just leaving. Evie basically lives in the practice rooms not because they make her but because she doesn’t deem herself worthy of being an idol.
“Evelyn?” says an oddly familiar voice, at first she can’t put her finger on who it is. Then her eyes instantly widen when she looks up and sees who it is. She nearly drops her bag to the floor as she bows her head very low.
“Yes sir? Was it you that needed to speak to me?” Evie asks in a shaky voice in English before she mentally scolds herself and repeats it in Korean.
“I have some really really good news for you. Follow me.” JYP says before leading her out of the training room she’s been calling home for the past year.
“Don’t you dare think I haven’t noticed how hard you work yourself Nari.” he says, stopping suddenly. Evie turns and looks at him tilting her head not wanting to interrupt him if he wants to speak again.
“I know how hard you took your elimination from the show, and I do apologize. I just hope you understand I did that so you could grow even more as an artist and find yourself more. I’ve been monitoring you closely since you’ve been eliminated and I don’t think you fit with the other girls you’ve been training with. You belong with them.” he says to her before nodding to a door. Evie starts to tremble in place, her eyes widening again.
“Skz is in there?” she asked quietly, missing her boys.
“Yes, only Chan knows you’re coming. Enter when you’re ready, you’re going to be extremely busy from this moment on. I hope you enjoy being back with the group, that is your home Nari.” with that JYP turns and walks away leaving Evie standing there with her jaw on the floor.
She takes many deep breaths trying to calm her nerves. She hasn’t seen these boys since the day she was eliminated from the show. These were her best friends in the entire industry, her literal motivation to work so hard, to be better. Right there, all she has to do is open the door. Her hands are trembling, what if they are mad at her for something? Woojin just left the group not too long ago, so what if people begin to think they added her to replace him? There’s STAYs who have been begging for Evie to debut with SKZ even now so they won’t, but what if others do? Not everyone is going to know her history with SKZ. Evie just open the door and stop procrastinating.
Evie lays her head against the door and can hear the quiet sounds of talking of the boys who she assumes had just woken up not long ago. She stays like that for a few moments until she hears footsteps coming toward the door and she quickly and quietly moves away from the door fearing it’ll open and they will see her creeping on them like that. Holding her breath she just opens the door, knowing if she doesn’t do it now she never will. She wanted to make sure that the door opened because of her and not one of the boys needed to go to the bathroom or something and exposed her waiting to enter.
When the door opens all the chattering in the room dies, she slowly closes the door behind her staring at the floor, afraid of their reactions. She nervously scratches at her arm and sort of shrinks. The silence is oh so loud.
She quietly says, “Hi…”
No one says anything, the boys just stare at her in disbelief as if they are seeing a ghost. She finally looks around to see the shocked looks on everyone’s faces and Hyunjin is crying, she wants to hug them all to catch up with them but she can’t find it in her to move. She stares at Minho and her heart drops, he looks pissed at her. Her gaze then goes to Felix who looks like he’s ready to pounce on her and tackle her in a hug. Then she sees Jeongin who is staring blankly at her as if he doesn’t believe that she’s truly there. Chan, who knew she was coming, is smiling softly and warmly, the love that always radiates off him when she’s near him is something she never forgot. Changbin is staring at her shocked to see her, his jaw hanging open. Seungmin is just staring at her, his facial expressions are hard for her to read. Finally she looks at Han who is smiling widely.
She takes one step forward before falling to the floor and she just bursts into tears, she’s having such a rough time believing any of this is real. Quickly Chan, Felix, Han, and Hyunjin rush up to her and hug her in a group hug to comfort Evie. She’s crying really hard and sorta pushes everyone away after a few moments and runs out of the room to go catch her breath, she suddenly feels really anxious. She at first didn’t have a plan, she wanted to just run home and pretend this awkward reunion never happened but she decided to just head to the bathroom instead knowing that’d be the wiser decision.
She sprints to the bathroom and ends up throwing up her breakfast. During this whole thing her phone was being blown up, she doesn’t know who could be texting her this much at this time but she just turns it to silent and washes her face and slaps her cheeks to hype herself up again. She feels really stupid for leaving them like that, for breaking down in front of them, for throwing up with anxiety. She sighs at herself and takes her phone out of her pocket and sees she’s been added to a group chat, that’s why her phone was being blown up, none of the phone numbers are saved, she couldn’t be bothered to actually read any of the messages just blankly stares at her phone for a few moments before she finally heads back to the room that she sprinted from.
She knocks on the door gently this time before entering, the chattering once again stopping when she enters the room. She feels as though all the connections she had with these boys have disappeared by the silence. She sighs and just grabs her bag and puts her phone in it before putting it in the corner of the room. When she gets back to the center of the room it’s still silent.
“Can someone please say something…?” Evie asks as she anxiously runs a hand through her hair.
“Evelyn? Is that really you?” Hyunjin was the first to say anything.
She nods before speaking. “Yes, hello. I missed you guys…” tears threaten to fall again.
“Why are you here?” Minho asks a bit coldly and Evie visibly shrinks.
Evie shrugs and equally as coldly replies. “Ask your damn leader.”
Felix comes up to Evelyn and just pulls her into a tight hug and she instantly relaxes and mumbles an apology to Minho and Chan for getting snippy as she hugs back her fellow Aussie. He gently rubs her back and kisses her on her cheeks.
“We missed you so much Evs.” Felix says to her excitedly.
“Doesn’t feel like it…” Evelyn pouts and reluctantly pulls away from the hug staring at Minho again.
“Don’t mind him, Bug.” Chan says from behind Felix. “He really missed you, he was torn up after you had to leave. I think he’s in shock.”
“Okay?” Evie is clearly confused. “Doesn’t mean he has to be cold to me like we are strangers now. It’s only been a year…”
She moves around Felix and hugs each member excluding Minho who is just glaring daggers at her.
“Oi!” Evie shouts at Minho to get his attention. “Do you want a hug, Minnie?”
He stands up and just opens his arms and she borderline runs into his arm catching him off guard and they fall to the floor laughing and just cuddle one another, the cold front instantly leaving when he finally got her in his arms. Minho was always one of the members Evie was close to. After they hug for a short while she goes back to clinging to Hyunjin, another one of the boys she’s extremely close to. Instinctively he kisses her head and Chan ushers the group to gather around, Evie sits between Minho and Hyunjin.
“You guys are probably curious as to why Evelyn is back with us in this room. Well I have got some news for you all.” Chan starts the announcement and Evie grabs one hand of each of the boys around her feeling nervous for some reason, fearing they would reject Chan’s words.
“I have been having a lot of serious conversations recently after everything that has been happening. I voiced how we were upset with the fact that JYP cut Evelyn from the team. After telling him about how I don’t feel like the team is truly ‘Stray Kids’ without Evelyn he told me that he has been monitoring her training process since the day she left us and that if we wanted…” Chan pauses for a moment, probably for dramatic effect before speaking again. “She could join Stray Kids during our next comeback!”
The boys all let out gasps and Minho squeezes Evie’s hand rather tightly, probably from excitement from being able to be with her everyday again. All the boys voice their agreement to let Evie back into Stray Kids, agreeing the group felt so wrong without her. Evelyn finally felt at home again for the first time in about a year. She hugs everyone and tells them all she loves them before they all got ready to actually start practicing.
